It is a nice beach, and it’s worth visiting if you’re within a reasonable driving distance from it.
But it’s not as spectacular as the hype might have you believe. We visited on a Monday in August and got to the beach at around 9AM. Metered parking close to the beach was easy to find but expensive at €12 for the day. Finding a spot on the beach wasn’t too bad (we brought our own umbrellas etc) but any later than 9AM and you can forget about getting anywhere near the shore.
The sea was a nice colour and it was warm - but it wasn’t clear until you get out beyond the first 10m or so. There’s also a fair amount of litter about - cigarette ends, receipts, etc (a general problem in Sicily it seems). We hired a pedalo for €20/hr and that was great - because it allowed us to get out beyond the mass of people to where the sea was deep and clear.
As to be expected at this time of year it was exceptionally busy - literally top to toe on the free parts of the beach.
In summary, worth a visit - but having been and checked it off the list I wouldn’t go back (whereas I would go back to Stintino in Sardinia in a heartbeat - despite it also being...
Read moreGreat beach, with nice blue-green colored water and clean. Also great for children because it is not to deep at the start of the beach, for at least 15-20 meters the water height is at knee/waist height deep. But not of the most beautiful in my opinion, mainly because (at least in mid July) it is pretty crowded and almost whole beach from start to the end has set up paid beach umbrellas and chairs ("ombrellone e lettini"), you need to get to the beach quite early (maybe at around 8 am) to get a spot at front if you have your own umbrella (but beach staff doesn't seem to be happy with that), but as I could see there was no table with information you can't have your own umbrella. The paid one with large umbrella and two chairs costs 15 EURO, they will try to sell you for 20, but you can deal for 15, at least in our case we could. There is no price list, must be one price for locals and another for foreign tourists. English speaking is so-so, but so far we didn't had trouble making...
Read moreSetting 2 stars, as its actually much better than Mondello, but overall beach experience is bad. The mountain is beautiful, and the water during the lunch time is blue.
Which is good, but if you want to spend some time on the sand a bit you screwed. Beach sand line is over over crowded, dirty, you will not find a place to seat, unless you paid a full daily price 20euro for umbrella (even if you want to be on the beach for 1-2 hours).
If you seat on the beach by yourself the beach "guy" will come and say you can't seat, you need to seat under Italian flag, as just that area is "free" to seat without paying 🤣 All the sunbeds almost stays in the water as well (people, why not put it directly into the water? if you want to be so close😅) so of course its not convinient to walk on a beach line.
Literally circus.
Never will go there again, and will not...
