Ristorante Piccolo Mondo — Restaurant in Sanremo

Arriving at 21.00 on a Saturday night we had booked a table for 4, the restaurant was quite busy. Staff had no sense of the order guests had arrived or in which order to serve the guests. Serveral tables with guests arriving after us, had received their drink before we even were given the menues. This was sign enough and we should have left the place then, but since we were keen to try one of their starters, we decided to stay. Eventually, after having to walk into the restaurant and reminding the owner that we had been waiting to place our orders for over an hour, one of the waitresses came and took our orders. The starter we all wanted to try was out. This was the second sign to leave but as i was quite late we again decided to stay. We ordered mains and wine, and after just a short while the owner came out and informed us that two us needed to change our orders as the the food out again, but there were other course available that the waitress hadn't told us about. So, again we changed our mind and ordered food that wasn't what we intended to eat. Aftet a reasonable time food started to arrive, one dish at the time. My wife didn't want to wait for her food to get cold so she finished hers long before I even got my food on the table. The best food I had in Sanremo during our 5 days stay. Would break my heart to rate this restaurant below 5 stars. I don’t know if I ever had better melanzane a la parmigiana, and it’s one of my favorite italian dishes. The veal cheek was tender and delicious, mashed potatoes creamy and yummy. House wine very average. I wish I could have ordered a glass of bottled wine. I can’t drink a bottle for dinner by myself since wife doesn’t help. Service was a bit worse than the house wine.
