Really don't get the high ratings for that ristorante. Stumbled into the venue accidentally after our actual destination was to busy to serve us without reservation.
To be honest the main issue is the the service, it was actually the worst service I ever witnessed in Italy, not to say, in my whole life. Waited half an hour after we got seated to even speak to a waiter. And trust me, there are many of em! Actually some are runners only, but they run with next to nothing. Long walks for a single knive, bottle of water or wine, but no one collects empty plates, waits or resets tables, it seems the squadrons fly out for one single task and join the womb again.
We were told there are only tables available inside without reservation, so we followed that order. Later, while smoking a cigarette I witnessed there were many tables empty in the garden, some not even set for patrons, a pity. We were also told we'll need green passes, which we had. But after seating us, we were never asked again to show em. Don't know if they just wanted us out of trouble, but it's the law in Italy so you should at last care about the rules.
The bevie guy was the most capable guy in the venue, although he admitted he's not a wine drinker, when we asked about white wine recommendations. At least he recommended a decent vino bianco which fitted perfectly well with the food.
After half an hour watching waiters and waitresses passing by and dozens of wavings from our side, the shop owner came by to take our order. We ordered starters and platti secondi and didn't even finish the order when the manager was about to run off. He didn't even ask if want side dishes. Sure we wanted side dishes. But he was to busy trying all he could to manage the place by his own, hosting, seating, serving and cashing guests - but hell - that's no teamspirit!
The appetizers came after half our (cold prep food) and were quite okay. We didn't get any olive oil or salt and it did take three attempts to beg for some.
Another 30 minutes passed by to wait for someone to take the empty plates. Another 15 minutes for platti secondi, which were cold instead of warm. The prawns were prepared like frozen ones from a discounter, no oil, no garlic, no love. The tuna steak was cold too (even if it was prepared well, rossa on the inside as it should be), but hey, cold like waiting for half an hour to be brought out from kitchen. No surprise, because a good chef prepares second course in time after starters. But because of the the lacking service, we're sure, the food was standing in the kitchen for quite a while, getting cold.
When we finally got our second course with insalata mista and some other veggies, no one even thought about offering aceto balsamico. I tried to order some - another 10 minutes passed by. So we finally could eat cold food with our salati.
We spend around 2:30h in the restaurant, around 40 minutes was actually eating time, the rest was waiting, waving and begging. Don't get me wrong, we're NOT the cranky ones, usually enjoying our time in restaurants, no matter how rudimentary they are, just wanna spend a good time with decent food and service. None of it is happening here and we have to absolutely warn you about this venue! If you wanna have a good time, don't spend it in here!
I have to mention, after telling the manager about our style of hospitality, he gave us a discount of 10 Euros. But hell, still wasted our last night of vacation and 85 bugs for less than an average stay! Don't go...
