Uh... where to start.
The service was bad, and the food ended up being just as disappointing.
When we finally got our table, we were kind of forgotten. It seemed like all the other tables received some sort of snack upon sitting down, but we didn’t get anything. There was a table right next to us arrived after us and was served before us. We would have been forgotten entirely if we hadn’t realized it ourselves and asked for the menu (QR code) a few minutes later, which was already about 15 minutes after we had been seated.
We ordered two cocktails, bruschetta, and two pasta dishes. Both cocktails were kind of "watery." The well-known Aviation cocktail was a fail, though the bruschetta was okay. After that, we waited about another 50 minutes for our main dishes, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy at all—more than half the tables were empty. Not once did anyone check on us to see if we were okay or if we might like another drink, which was odd because we noticed other tables receiving regular attention from the server. We felt as though we didn’t exist.
After a really long wait, we asked if our food was ready. We noticed a bit of panic among the staff, and our first guess was that they had simply forgotten our order. The server told us that there was a table of 12 where everyone had ordered pasta. Very soon after that, we got our meals, but it felt as if they had rushed the preparation process and served us half-done dishes.
I wouldn’t be writing this review if it weren’t for the final touch. Another server asked if we had waited long upon asking for the bill, which we confirmed. However, instead of owning up to the mistakes and sincerely apologizing for the obviously bad experience, the server tried to "reason" with us by saying (and I quote), "You ordered bruschetta? Because of that you missed your turn, that's how it works." So, instead of taking responsibility and apologizing, it ended up sounding as it is our fault for ordering that bruschetta (even tho we ordered everything at once), implying that we "missed our turn" because of it. No sincere apology after that either.
This situation could have been avoided if anyone had at least tried to communicate with us about what was happening and that we might have to wait unusually long time. I would have understood if the restaurant was busy at the time, but it...
Read moreThis is in response to the restaurant reply to a previous review by Kresimir Dujmic:
We only decided to make a last-minute reservation at the restaurant and return to it because we had a good experience talking to a gentleman who took our details for later confirmation of an available table. Unfortunately, we could not see that same gentleman around when we came back.
Just to clarify, we are intelligent beings—it might not seem so, but we are—and we can make judgments on timings when we look around, paying attention to what is happening at other tables being serviced. Besides, it was not our first time in a restaurant.
I think there are a couple of points to take into account:
1 - If a restaurant cannot provide good service with all its tables busy, that means it either needs more staff or needs to reduce the number of tables. The staff seemed overwhelmed with the amount of work. 2- We were not looking forward to being pampered; if we were, we would go to a Michelin-star restaurant. I know how I’ll be treated there. I would not go to any other restaurant with high expectations. 3 - What I think is the biggest problem here is not the restaurant itself, but the arrogance of the hostess, who seems to me to be the manager or maybe even the owner. She honestly cannot deal with criticism and with the restaurant’s simple mistake of not placing the order of a table in a timely manner, making excuses and blaming the guest for it.
I would also note that we really appreciate the discount of €3.50 for the inconvenience, applied to our final bill, which did not even cover the “coperti” of €4.00.
To finalize, I think other tables were having a good experience; it was just that ours didn’t, so we decided to point out what was going wrong. I hope when we visit Sicily and Sciacca again one day, the restaurant is still in business and with...

I ordered the mixed seafood platter for €22. The plate I received had far fewer seafood items than shown in the menu photo. Instead of the premium lobsters and squid pictured, I got only cheap fish and fish balls. When I asked the waiter, he casually said the photo was “just an example.” This is outrageous and basically false advertising, as the dish had almost nothing to do with the photo. I returned the plate and left. The waiter was rude and only took the plate back reluctantly. Tourists, beware – don’t waste...
