Ristorante La Grotta da Fiore — Restaurant in Serrara Fontana

OK restaurant on the peak of Ischia with marvellous views, but they are often blocked by clouds fog or haze. The food is very simple, and is prepared quickly. It is said that there is service outside, but if there is it's very slow. We waited for 20 minutes, then went in and got the waiter. The waiter also told us that they have a 9 euro Neapolitan Easter cake (the whole round cake, not a piece), but it turned out that it was just an overpriced small cake piece, which didn't taste that well either. I also ordered the omlet with coppa which was way too salty and didn't have a taste. Not worth the 30 minute climb just to see the restaurant. You can stop here for a coffee or aperitif after the climb, but it is not recommended to eat anything here, instead try a nearby restaurant on the main road going down from...

This was certainly one of the few meals that I will remember for a lifetime. Yes, the view from the top of the mountain was fantastic, but the service here was amazing. We were treated warmly by all, and spent a fantastic, enjoyable evening. The food was simply delicious, starting with bruschetta made with lovely tomatoes that had been picked the same day (and presented to us in a basket before being prepared). They looked and tasted amazing. The same goes for the pasta, with sauce also made from fresh tomato. Lastly, the rabbit was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed our time at La Grotta, and had a great conversation with the proprietors. We had a wonderful lunch at Ristorante La Grotta da Fiore. The food was incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and the portions were generous. Every dish was delicious, and we especially appreciated the explanation about the rabbit and how it was prepared—it’s clear they take real pride in their cooking.
