Le Gardenie - Pizzeria — Restaurant in Sestri Levante

We visited this place three times – twice for takeaway pizza, and the last time we dined in, ordering calamari, shrimp, and pizza. The food is average but fair for the price.

Unfortunately, the service was terrible. We came without a reservation and were told there were no tables available, so we informed the staff that we were happy to wait for one. Shortly after, more people started lining up behind us, also waiting for tables.

First, a four-person table became free, and a group of four took it, which made sense as there were only two of us. Then a two-person table became available, and we were sure it would be for us, but the staff member seated two people who arrived after us instead.

When we asked why, the staff member said that our table would be ready at 9 PM, in 40 minutes, and we would not be seated earlier. We couldn’t help but wonder – was it because we are foreigners? Fortunately, another staff member stepped in and found a table for us, while the first one kept giving us...

I had dinner in this restaurant with my partner on Sunday, despite the low season, the place was full, so much so that we had to wait a few minutes for a table to become free. The environment is informal, typical of a trattoria; the service was attentive and impeccable, I really appreciated that we were offered a farinata as a welcome and liqueurs at the end of the meal (we were also given a bottle of Moscato di Pantelleria for a taste to taste with dessert as well as a myrtle and a limoncello). We ordered two seafood first courses and a second course, and two desserts with a bottle of Ligurian Vermentino. Lo staff ha già cortesemente risposto in un profilo differente dove avevo erroneamente pubblicato la risposta l'ho copiata e incollata alla fine della recensione.

Premetto che non posso scrivere il prezzo perché invitato a pranzo, devo dire che il cibo è ok ben cucinato e le porzioni sono generose. Spaghetti allo scoglio, capponata, gamberi in pastella, Pansoti al sugo di noci e un calice di pigato servito in corsa da una signora che, forse, era nella giornata in cui abbiamo pranzato un po' troppo sbrigativa e/o nervosa. Infatti sul finire dell'orario di pranzo l'abbiamo udita urlare con le sue dipendenti. Poverine, credo che non si debba; soprattutto in presenza di clienti ancora ai tavoli. Loro, il personale, si danno da fare. Riassumento: cibo ok, prezzo non posso dire, servizio e cortesia da aggiornare alla versione 2.0 soprattutto per almeno una persona anche perché se è colei che conta, in caduta influenza in negativo tutto lo staff. Vedremo in futuro se ritornando la situazione sarà migliorata.

Risposta dal proprietario inizio ottobre 2022 Grazie Flavio per la sua recensione! Ci fa moto piacere che il cibo e il servizio siano stati di suo gradimento! Le chiediamo scusa per le voci che ha sentito e ha ragione nel dire che non dovrebbe succedere.... Noi a pranzo lavoriamo moltissimo con i dipendenti del cantiere che hanno davvero poco tempo per mangiare e quindi siamo spesso presi dalla frenesia del servizio e possiamo risultare un po' più frettolosi. Ieri a fine servizio abbiamo avuto una piccola incomprensione in cucina ed è probabilmente quello che ha sentito. Anche nelle migliori famiglie a volte si discute ma passato quell'attimo di nervosismo torna tutto a posto! La invitiamo a tornare nuovamente anche per cena se preferisce!
