Malafemmina — Restaurant in Syracuse

We came across Malafemmina on our first evening. The ambience is great with a fantastic view of the beach and the yachts moored nearby. We looked through the menu with intrepidation as it looked like it was mainly fish and of course all in Italian. A lovely lady, the manager, I presume, came over and put our minds at rest detailing the different dishes and told us in perfect English that they could make whatever we wanted. My father had the mixed fish tempura with baton vegetables also in tempura. My husband had the tuna in a pistachio crust. The rest of us had chicken escalope with the most fantastic skin on fries. Altogether with two glasses of wine, two beers and four soft drinks the bill came to 145 Euro’s which was very reasonable. We stayed for 9 days eating at various restaurants, but couldn’t beat the fantastic meal we had on the first night or the lovely welcoming atmosphere from the waiter/waitresses. The food was nice. Pistaccio parfait is delicious. But we had a cheese platter and after we finished I realized there was no marmelade so I asked about it and the waiter just said “yeah, it should have been there”. Nothing else. Then I wanted to have two ice coffees and use the voucher for a welcome drink from the hotel. Waiter took it. In the end it was on the bill anyway. Cheese platter as well. Avoid if you can. My partner got stomach sick the day after we ate there. Staff is awkward, music is loud and segmenting “old English style”. Food and drinks are overpriced (15€ for Amalfi gin), which is insane. We got the bar set menu (avoid).
