Sounds like a circus the only connection to one would be the number of salivating locals going absolutely bonkers lining up at this place.
It was meant to open at 12:30 and we arrived with 5 minutes to spare and it was already bustling. This place is popular with the Italians, no mean feat when the population is so picky about its food.
So if you want to have an amazingly tasty well prepared meal. This blows everyone out of the water. Its just unfussy. First of all, you pick your pasta, then you pick the sauce, and any any bits you want. it’s all hand made.
We bought our carafe of wine, and bottle’s of water and found a seat. 10minutes later our chef brought over the saucepans and dishes (look like a small metal casserole dish with brass handles), so our chef plonks down the saucepan on an adjoining table and begins to mix the sauce in with the pasta, carefully mixing and tossing it over and over until he was satisfied with its consistency and sauce-to-pasta absorption ratio, I have no idea what he was doing really but it looked good.
Then I had this feeling I had been sent back in a wormhole – was i just transported to 1950? He placed the dishes in front of us with an artistic flourish and wished us both "buon appetito"…
This is a new, startup little restaurant and it blows away high end pretentious places I have eaten in New York. If you are in Tarantula…(Taranto) and your tummy is making those happy gurgly noises and in need of a great tasty food experience. This is the place to go.
To the locals: you guys really have a jewel here and should make sure nothing happens to this great location brimming with talent and authenticity. We need more of these locations to bring a smile to people’s faces after they have had a great meal. Thanks for making our day.
People of the world: come here....
Read moreWe had dinner at GastroBoutique this evening and I simply have to write this review because it was absolutely fantastic. We specifically looked for a restaurant offering authentic cuisine where we could try a variety of dishes. We had octopus with roasted potatoes, a wonderful lasagna with eggplamt, an excellent white fish with a potato crust, and sensational orecchiette with cima di rapa.
The food was served within minutes, and the homemade orecchiette was freshly prepared by Marco himself. Marco also speaks excellent English, and he was able to explain all of his dishes to us in detail, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
We’ve had countless great dinners in Italy, but our visit to the GastroBoutique will remain in our...
Read moreMy colleague and I found this place on one of the last days of our stay in Taranto, and it was the best place we had food, without a doubt. The owner Marco is describing every single dish that he has, in details.
We tried 4 of the dishes that was available.
Rice and mushrooms - tasted amazing.
Some kind of stew, that I can't remember the name of - That dish was amazing, and the meat just fell apart.
2 different kinds of lasagna. One white, and a traditional lasagna as well. I have tasted a lot of lasagnas in my life, but that one was by far the best I have ever tried, and my colleague said the same!!
If I will be back in Taranto, then I will definitely come back to...
