I've stayed at the hotel twice and it was excellent. The restaurant however, leaves something to be desired. On my most recent visit in early April, my girlfriend and I were told we could not get different tasting menus. I understand asking that the whole table decide between a la carte or tasting menu but I was very surprised when they asked we both choose the same menu.
This was especially frustrating because I have celiac and they were unable to accommodate one of the three tasting menus so even though my girlfriend wanted to order this one, they would not do it.
We eventually decided to order a different menu, but my girlfriend does not like anchovies so we mentioned that. When an anchovy dish came out for me, they did not substitute anything for my girlfriend and instead brought her nothing. I understand that simply removing the anchovies removed the core of the dish, but then something should be added instead or the dish should be swapped out for something different. It seemed that even if she had an allergy the policy would have been the same but this should not matter. We both found it rude that they would consider only bringing food for one guest after both ordering the same menu for the same price.
I have been to many high-end restaurants but have never experienced such stiff policies regarding substituteing ingredients or dishes. It is a shame, really, because the food that did come out of the kitchen was excellent and so was the front of house staff. The staff did a good job of managing the situation but our experience was tainted by this unfortunate rigidity. I hope they can modify their policy in the future because the location, staff, and guests...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to dine at your restaurant and wanted to share some feedback about my experience. While I had high expectations given your Michelin star reputation, I must admit that the evening did not meet our expectations.
Firstly, the most significant issue was the food quality. Despite choosing the most expensive preset menu, we found the food to be mediocre at best. Some dishes were so disappointing that we couldn't even finish them due to their taste. This was especially disappointing considering the high prices associated with your establishment.
Another issue we encountered was with the service. Our waitress disappeared during our dinner, and we had to wait for an extended period to ask for the check. To our surprise, we discovered that we had two steps left to taste, which some of us did not event want anymore. This experience added to our overall dissatisfaction.
While we did appreciate the pleasant restaurant location, it unfortunately couldn't compensate for the subpar food quality and poor service we received during our visit. As a party of four, none of us left satisfied, and we have decided not to consider any other Michelin star restaurant for the time being.
I share this feedback with the hope that it can contribute to the improvement of your establishment. It's important for a restaurant of your caliber to consistently provide exceptional experiences to maintain its reputation. We genuinely believe that with some adjustments in the kitchen and service areas, your restaurant can deliver the quality that is expected from a Michelin-starred...
Read moreWe were staying at the hotel (which we can’t recommend enough btw, truly incredible) and decided to eat at the restaurant one evening.
The position of the restaurant is under the hotel with lovely arches which give great views of the lake. Unfortunately that’s the best thing about the experience.
We sat and waited, then given some water and waited. We asked for a drinks menu but it took ages to come (we had a glass of wine 35 minutes after sitting down), they tried taking our food order before we had even ordered a drink, which we found a bit odd.
We ordered the vegetarian tasting menu which sounded good. The courses came out and we were given a nice explanation about what each dish was. Unfortunately the food was just very average, with the exception of the tomato desert (which would have been a great starter) and the selection of deserts. We found the spaghetti too salty, and then shocked that the dish after was just a spoon of the same salty sauce. In total we had bread at 3 different points of the night throughout the menu.
The staff, while polite, did not make anything particularly special about the evening, no real engagement. The tables looked the same as what you have during breakfast, perhaps it would be nicer to add a table cloth over them for the evening.
Would not recommend and have no idea how this got a...
