Bar Italia Tornoallariva B&B — Restaurant in Torno

We ate dinner at B&B Bar Italia multiple times during our stay in Torno but did not stay at the B&B (hotel) so I cannot speak to the rooms. However, the restaurant on the first floor was lovely and very affordable!

THE FOOD: we had an entire 3 course meal including a bottle of wine, appetizers, entrees and dessert for about 50 euros. The house wine was super affordable and actually great and I’m pretty picky about wine. Like many little Italian cafes, you get free appetizers or “bar snacks” with your cocktails and this restaurant gave us potato chips and bread with toppings. The food was good quality for the price and there were lots of options on the menu including salads, pasta entrees (spaghetti, lasagna etc) and pizza entree. For dessert the restaurant had of different ice cream Sunday options and a daily tart.

THE VIBES: this is a super casual little restaurant with a couple tables inside but the real appeal here is the outdoor patio, which has an amazing view of the lake. They have about 6 tables outside and they do take reservations and on the weekend in August they were pretty booked up, it was hard to get a table! I noticed tons of Italian locals gathering with friends here, so can assume this is a spot the locals enjoy. I also noticed British, French, German & American tourists including several couples on dinner dates and families with children. People chatted loudly and it was great people watching which we enjoyed.

THE SERVICE: the waitresses were friendly young ladies who spoke English to us, and the manager was extremely helpful in making space for us. I was happy to bring my business...

This place just made our day. We were on a girls trip and this was like a stop to have a drink before we caught our ferry. However, this place just had our heart and we stayed for another one hour. The wine was delicious and they gave complimentary chips and plate of bread with delicious topping coz of happy hour. The hospitality and kindness of the place owner made our trip even better. Really recommended place with a great view. The toilets are Corona proof even before Corona started I guess, the flush button and the tap are all to be operated by your foot. Friendly and welcoming staff happy to serve us in perfect English. The location beside the harbour with passenger ferries regularly coming and going is magical. We choose pizza from the extensive menu accompanied with local beer and wine and were delighted with what we received. After a wander around the local streets and alleyways we returned for some delicious ice cream which we ate sitting on the harbour wall as we watched the world float by.
