Osteria del Porto — Restaurant in Torre del Greco

Went for lunch at midday, in total 2 persons in the restaurant apart from us. They didn't let us sit at the table for 4 persons, made us sit at a very uncomfortable one near the door. Of course noone else came for lunch, the table where we wanted to sit was empty all the time. When choosing the food every time they told that tgey don't have this and that dish... Wouldn't it be better to tell from the very beginning what you do have? They didn't let us sit a bit at the table after lunch, grabbed everything including the tablecloth and gave us the bill straing away. It was still one hour before they had to clpse. Small portions, mixed salad is very small and poor. To sum it up - terrible service and small portions. They charge you 2,50 eur for such a terrible service! They didn't deserve this money with such...

Really lovely and friendly restaurant, menu in English although you do need some basic Italian to get by. I managed to explain myself quite well despite my very poor Italian. The waiter who only spoke Italian wasn’t put off by it and made some useful suggestions about choice of wine and deserts. Only at the end of the meal did we discover the owner spoke a bit of English. The food was top quality, the fish was fresh, spaghetti with sauce delicious and deserts (pistachio ice cream and rum baba) were really good. They did sit us in a different part of the restaurant from the locals who were watching football but came over to check on us often. I can’t fault it, we had most enjoyable evening. Stay away from this place. We came due to the favourable reviews which we cannot possibly explain:

1. opening hours are off by 2h
2. creepy armosphere
3. my order was misunderstood. Not that bad but still - if your have a menue in english I expect you to understand your own menue.
4. we saw multiple guests leaving early
5. my partner did not like her dish and felt weird after eating a little from it. After voicing the concerns, service left the dish untouched for 20 min on our table before we were able to pay and leave
6. Portion size small, very expensive, no deduction Please stay away...
