Al Toscano — Restaurant in Trieste

If you don’t speak fluent Italian, don’t even bother. Owners do not care. Server spilled an entire plate of the meatballs on me and comped just the 15 euro plate and a 4 euro side. Owner literally spoke to every single other person but not us. After server spilled plate on me, they brought out a new one while I was in the bathroom. Neither server nor either of the owners came to check on us after the spill. Not once. If you ruin a customers expensive sweater, you don’t just say “well, just go back to America and wash it.” Been 12 hours and sweater is ruined after wash.

Food was ok. Chicken liver on bread was very weak and basic. Bread in general weak. Pesto Risotto undercooked, Bolognese pasta just ok. Meatballs were a bit salty and cold. Mashed potatoes and carrots were cold- maybe because server didn’t care to come and ask and just left them for ten minutes on the table instead of bringing out a fresh set. They are clearly trying to save money, which is fine, but if you spill on a customer and don’t come out while the owner speaks to every one of their customers- well, easy one star. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Al Toscano and I can honestly say that I had an excellent experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive to our needs.

The food was truly outstanding. As a meat lover, I was particularly impressed with the quality of the cuts and the way they were cooked. Each dish was prepared to perfection and the flavors were spot on. The portions were also very generous, so it was definitely great value for money.

What stood out to me the most, however, was the incredible service. Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, and made great recommendations for wine pairing. He went out of his way to ensure that we had a wonderful dining experience.

Overall, I would highly recommend Al Toscano to anyone who is looking for a top-notch dining experience. The friendly staff, delicious food, and excellent service make it a standout restaurant. I would rate my experience a 5/5 stars and will definitely be returning for another meal...

Right at the start, we were kindly welcomed on the pleasant terrace. The waiter brought us the menu and wine list, then showed us all other dishes from the blackboard. The appetizers were good, the noodles with rare porcini mushrooms, but tasty, my pieces of meat was very good but served on a cold plate.
