Yes, the view is great; the prices surely reflect the portions, however they do not really provide an exceptional taste with that. Having been a part of the hospitality sector front and back, I know how hard it can be to serve a group with a small kitchen - by the way, that is what they told us, not that I judged the capacity myself. However, blaming the kitchen size is not the best way to cover for disorganization. I know that we are going through tough times, most places are understaffed, people rush in at the same time and it is generally hard to keep up with everything. That is why we are just grateful to have something to eat and not expecting extraordinary efforts while restaurants still have many expenses to keep going. BUT... There are some very basic things to keep the tables organised, especially if there are more than 3 - 4 people. They tried, very annoyingly, hard to make everyone order from a limited selection, so that the main courses can arrive more or less at the same time without putting too much pressure on the kitchen. Even though we expressed our indifference to the main courses arriving in various times, we were not able to select freely from the menu. So, we ordered what we were told, but even with that from the beginning of the wine service everything was placed and carried away in such a chaotic manner that we couldn't follow the traffic on the table. We were not in a rush, we could have waited another two minutes for someone to take the empty plates from the table before trying to fit in the new ones. We lost the same amount of time trying to move everything. I am guessing there is an ongoing fight at the background about all this. Many of the bad reviews are for the service. I hope they work on the motivation and education of the staff without pushing them to their limits. I have never worked with "enough" staff in my life; we always had to do something extra for steadily diminishing salaries. Surely, I cannot know the real reason behind these instances for a specific place. But I know from experience that providing a calm, maybe slow but systematic service is easier to back up in these pressing times. Antipasto misto completo was nice. Domenica scorsa siamo stati alla trattoria Al Faro per festeggiare il compleanno di un'amica. Eravamo in cinque e, purtroppo, l'esperienza è stata deludente sotto molti aspetti.

Partendo dagli antipasti, abbiamo ordinato due gratinati misti e tre antipasti mistio. Incredibilmente i gratinati, anche quelli inclusi negli antipasti misti, sono arrivati freddi. Un fatto inspiegabile considerando che i gratinati dovrebbero uscire dal forno caldi. Il baccalà mantecato, inoltre, era eccessivamente carico di olio e per nulla gradevole.

Dopo gli antipasti, abbiamo aspettato un'infinità di tempo per ricevere la seconda portata. Questo ha ulteriormente peggiorato l'esperienza, ma tralasciamo questo fatto.

Due di noi hanno ordinato le tagliatelle con la granseola, che si sono rivelate essere semplicemente una pasta al burro con la granseola aggiunta. Il gusto del burro sovrastava ogni altro sapore, era palese e tutti quelli che al tavolo hanno assaggiato il piatto hanno fatto questo stesso commento. Abbiamo fatto notare la cosa al cameriere in maniera educata e abbiamo rimandato indietro i piatti. Tuttavia, il cameriere, dopo averli portati in cucina e fatto assaggiare ai colleghi, è tornato dicendo che nel piatto la granseola c'era e che era giusto che il piatto avesse quel gusto (gusto di tagliatelle al burro? spero per loro che non lo preparino sempre così!).

Il peggio è arrivato quando il cameriere ha insistito nel dirci che il piatto fosse giusto così, arrivando addirittura a dirci che forse siamo noi a non sapere cosa o come sia la granseola, o addirittura che fosse una scusa perché non avevamo fame. È inaccettabile che un cameriere si permetta di fare affermazioni del genere a dei clienti che, in modo educato, hanno fatto delle osservazioni e hanno rimandato indietro i piatti senza fare storie. Non avevamo nemmeno preteso che i piatti venissero tolti dal conto, e per evitare qualsiasi discussione che avrebbe rovinato il pranzo di compleanno della nostra amica abbiamo preferito evitare di cogliere queste provocazioni e iniziare discussioni inutili. Tuttavia, il comportamento del cameriere è stato vergognoso e inaccettabile.

In conclusione, la nostra esperienza è stata estremamente deludente. Un gran peccato, visto che avevo già frequentato il locale in passato e mi ero sempre trovato molto bene. Non so se c'è stato un cambio di gestione o di personale, ma questa volta il cibo non era all'altezza delle aspettative, il servizio è stato lento e il personale scortese. The food was good, the terrace is nice and have views to the sea and the city. The menu is ok, I really recommend to try their basta... it’s sooo good! The only black shadow it’s the service..... I am still laughing thinking about the waiter that really push us to choose all the same plates from the menu “because they have a small kitchen”... it’s funny, because we were four people, and “the big deal” was that instead of having the same main course the four of us, two people wanted the pasta con le vongole and the other two another kind of pasta. Cannavacciulo would have screamed at this! But anyway, apart of this awkward moment, everything was fine and I hope I’ll be back soon. Just one suggestion: please, choose the pasta you prefer most... to have a little kitchen and 90 seats it’s a really...

During the summer holidays, we stopped at "Trattoria al Faro" for lunch. It was the right choice!! Everyone was very friendly and nice. The lunch was delicious. Assorted fish, side of fried potatoes and more ... There was a beautiful sun we had lunch on the pergola terrace with the splendid view of the sea of ​​Trieste ... it was an experience not to be forgotten ... I enjoyed it very much!!

2024: in giugno o luglio '24 hanno riaperto con la nuova gestione, spero di ritornare presto qua a mangiare per verificare se il servizio ed il cibo sono migliorati. FEBBRAIO 2023: confermo quasi tutto ciò che ho scritto lo scorso ottobre; i prezzi erano gli stessi (rapporto qualità-prezzo così così), il cameriere è stato zero cordiale e poco professionale (abbiamo ordinato un piatto ma poi è tornato a dirci che era GIÀ terminato .....alle ore 13!?!), servizio estremamente lento: questa mia opinione è stata condivisa anche dai clienti seduti negli altri tavoli accanto al nostro. OTTOBRE 2022: abbiamo pranzato qua ieri, domenica della Barcolana. Siccome già nelle settimane precedenti avevamo memorizzato i prezzi di vari piatti, ieri abbiamo trovato i prezzi un po' aumentati: sorpresa poco piacevole! Inoltre siamo stati serviti da un cameriere (quello che si è annotato l'ordine) poco gentile, poco professionale e zero cordiale: ci ha trattato come "clienti di serie B" senza alcun motivo, una situazione pazzesca. Assegno comunque 3 stelle per la bellissima vista mare, e per il cibo: tutto buono tranne gli spaghetti: troppo al dente per i miei gusti.

During the summer holidays, we stopped at "Trattoria al Faro" for lunch. It was the right choice!! Everyone was very friendly and nice. The lunch was delicious.
