Caffè Reale Torino — Restaurant in Turin

Very hard to give this any stars, as no one actually served us!

We arrived at the front and asked whether the cafe was open. A friendly waiter (I guess he deserves the star!) assured us they were open, but we should sit at the back. He ushered us through the restaurant, into the courtyard.

As we entered the courtyard, a different waiter said we should sit inside. We said that we had just been told to go outside, he shrugged, waved us towards a table, hurried away.

No tables were in the shade, so we nudged one away from the sun. We then saw a table in a better position, so moved places. A waiter came — ignored us — replaced the table back in the sun. Maybe he wasn’t a waiter, maybe he was the ‘table positioning’ employee. In fact, maybe none of the staff were waiters, they certainly didn’t seem to understand the definition of the title as no one ever came to take our order. After a while, we decided they were too busy, so we left in search of food and drinks.

Turin is a big city, there are places to go where you will actually be served. I suggest...

AGGIORNAMENTO: Per la mia recensione ho valutato tutto: prezzo, esperienza e atteggiamento. Totale 1 stella. Sul menù c'era scritto che zabaione e biscotti costa 9 euro e io l'ho pagato 10. Anzi, all'inizio mi era stato fatto pagare 11 euro (quando ho chiesto spiegazioni mi è stato restituito 1 euro). Non sono una cliente abituale e ho letto correttamente il menù distribuito ai tavoli. Ho pagato con Satispay.

Per un euro, anzi due.

Ieri, 5 febbraio, io e mio marito abbiamo ordinato uno zabaione con biscotti, una cioccolata calda con panna e un bicchiere d'acqua di accompagnamento. Purtroppo sul fondo della ciotolina della panna troviamo quelli che sembrano dei pezzi di vetro, incidente molto spiacevole, ma per fortuna nessuno si è fatto male. Mio marito ha sentito dei pezzettini di vetro in bocca e li ha subito sputati, poi mentre tornavamo a casa ha ritrovato un ulteriore pezzo di vetro. Parliamo con il capo sala e glieli mostriamo, lui gentilissimo si scusa e non ci fa pagare la cioccolata calda con panna. Sullo scontrino rimangono quindi uno zabaione e un bicchiere d'acqua. Paghiamo e chiedo di andare in bagno. Visto che è esterno, la signora alla cassa, molto svogliatamente, mi dà una moneta da 50 centesimi e la chiave del bagno, sottolineando che dopo l'uso gliela dovrò riportare. Provo ad andare in bagno e con la monetina non riesco ad accedere non so per quale motivo, quindi torno in cassa, spiego la situazione e il capo sala, nuovamente molto gentile, mi accompagna in bagno e apre con la sua chiave. Mentre ci stiamo recando ai servizi igienici mi viene il dubbio di aver pagato (tramite Satispay) due euro in più e chiedo conferma del prezzo della consumazione. Una volta tornata in cassa la signora dice genericamente che si è sbagliata e mi restituisce un euro; visto che lo zabaione con i biscotti veniva 9 euro, io gli chiedo se il bicchiere d'acqua costi un euro e lei farfuglia qualcosa che non capisco. Alla fine abbiamo pagato 10 euro e il capo sala ci ha offerto uno sconto del 10% per la prossima volta. Ma davvero il bicchiere d'acqua da loro costa un euro? Se sì, è scritto nel menù? E l'altro euro in più da dove veniva? In quel momento in cassa non c'era nessuno e il locale non era affollato. Tutto il personale di sala gentile e accogliente. Signora alla cassa maleducata, non in linea con il locale. Prezzi...

Compared to the royal palace the service in the royal cafe is disappointing. The waitress is emotionless, especially after she heard me speaking in English. She passed by the table a couple of times when I tried to call her and she ignored me. As for the 6 eur bicerin - I don't even know if it's good because it's my first in Turin so I can't compare, but I didn't like it because it's only a half of a glass of chocolate with coffee that wasn't even noticeable so I ordered an extra coffee.
