Since, I had been staying in Torino for five months and I had explored almost every Indian restaurant here except this one, I decided to go there on my wedding anniversary last month for spending a nice evening. The experience was not so good and here are the reasons:

Overcharge: They overcharged one item. Though it was just 0.5 Euro, but it was unethical! When I asked, they had the lame excuse that menu is being updated and didn't charge while the final payment. (I still have the receipt!).

Hospitality: They are so cold in hospitality that you feel like unwanted guests at someone's dinner party. Compared to any other pizzeria/restaurant in the town, you will feel the difference.

Not Indians and No authentic food: They don't serve authentic Indian food. The owner is Bangladeshi like other people who serve there. They don't even know what 'Arhar Daal' means! When we ordered they told yes it's available, when served it was 'Chana Daal'. Moreover, the taste of food was not Indian. At the end, they won't even admit that it was their mistake.

Location: The place is far from the city center. It tool us half an hour to go by bus.

Comparison: Compared to other restaurants, the price is higher and the quantity is lower. We had ordered 'Hara Kabab' which they serve just two small pieces (what the hell!)! I would recommend other restaurants which are a way better in taste and price e.g. Gandhi, Karmacola, Dawat.

In the end, I don't understand why don't these guys open restaurants with the name of their country (Bangladesh, Pakistan)! The truth (and of course the bitter one) is that they won't be able to survive. People go to these restaurants due to the word 'India' associated.

So I advise guys, go to other restaurants like I...

Disappointed for the below reasons:

  1. Too expensive for the kind of food they serve. €25 on an average, I expect good food and not over cooked chicken.
  2. I am an Indian, and to be very honest this is not the true Indian food experience. I am not saying this in terms of the food being spicy or not but from the fact that they are not true to the Indian food tradition. The restaurant needs to get some Indian food facts right. a) It's not 'Shikangwi' it's 'Shikangi'. b) Not everyone is a rice eater. They need to offer a choice between rice and roti. c) The waiters are supposed to explain what kind of food they are putting on the table. They did not even care to explain the condiments they kept on the table. I went to the restaurant with my Italian friends and they were thoroughly confused.
  3. This does not seem to be restaurant run by Indians. It might be owned by Indians but the waiters and the administrators...

A nice, small Indian restaurant in Torino, with an agreeable atmosphere, thanks to exotic but discreet furnishings and decorations, which are suited to an Indian place, yet not to flashy. The food is good, although not very special. They have several menus sporting preconfigured combinations of dishes for a fixed price, and they're rich but a bit boring, with little variety, as each of them is based on only one main ingredient (chicken, lamb, vegetables etc.). If you want more variety, it's best to order dishes à la carte. The service is friendly and quick. The place is not large, so it's better to book in advance. And I also recommend to get there a bit earlier than the set time, as in that area it's a nightmare to find a...
