We booked a Christmas Eve dinner for our family of four at this restaurant, hoping for a great experience based on the reviews. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed... The food was inconsistent: the wild boar stew and the soup were delicious, but the salads and the charcuterie board were bland and unappealing. The service was worse: we had three different waiters who seemed to have no communication with each other. They only brought two out of four main dishes, and then left us waiting for about 45 minutes. We thought maybe they were serving us in courses, but the food on the table was getting cold. Then, one of the waiters came and started to take away the dishes, without asking us if we were done or if we needed anything else. We were shocked and stopped her, telling her that we were still waiting for the other two dishes. She blamed us for not telling her that we wanted our food "together" and that we should have stopped her sooner. After another 15 minutes, they finally brought the missing dishes, but by then we had lost our appetite and our festive mood. We ate quickly and left, feeling let down by...
Read moreLovely dinner at Restaurant Alpage which is perched on a hill with a breathtaking location as it has its very own uninterrupted view of Cervino and the surrounding mountains....this must be heaven! The food was hearty, delicious and really hit the spot for all of us. We went for the beef fondue for 4 that also comes with a bowl of thick curled fries. We happily waited four our meat to cook then dipped the cubes in a variety of rich, creamy & delectible sauces. We topped our meal off with canolis half filled with chocolate and half filled with orange cream! It was a great choice as the chef is from Sicily and this was his natural game. We also ordered the apple pie with ice cream ... we devoured that too. The Restaurant's host/our server was a lovely Italian lady with a great sense of humour... very helpful and kept us laughing. Highly recommend for families and couples. We would love to have lunch there and...
Read moreOkay, Let’s start with the important things. This restaurant is a 6/5. Not a 4.6. It is managed and operated by a brother and sister named Rolan and Jeraldin. The restaurant was recommended to us by a local in Cervinia. It’s a bit out of the town, but they offer to drive you back to your hotel for free. We went 2 times in a week. The deer ribs were cooked to perfection, and the ragu pasta was absolutely divine. I recommend to not pass on the deer tartar and the chicken liver. They are wonderful. I had the Boar stew polenta, after a wonderful explaining from Rolan about how polenta is a local dish and a must try. It was great, and I left nothing in my plate 😅. In total, I think recommending this restaurant is an understatement , and when coming to cervinia again, I will be back...
