Worst restaurant I had in the langhe since 5 years I go there every year. Very basic food, we had ravioli which were really average with a very poor industrial like sauce (basic fond de veau). Vitelo tonato less than average, same for insulata Russa... The truffle is very poor quality absolutely not fresh almost dry... No taste and very expensive extra to get it... If you know what is truffle just skip it...
Then about wine they have a decent menu (more then an hundred of great wines) but the waitress don't know anything about it, poor / inappropriate advices and each bottle you order they tell you is no more available and come with an opposite suggestion. Realy showing they don't know what they are talking about. This is very unfortunate in the middle of such an amazing wine area and quite embarrassing for them in fact ...
Overall poor sevice quality, long wait, lack of attention, not kind, you feel you are disturbing them... waitress see that you don't speak Italian, but no effort and she continues to speak to you italian without any care (where her colleagues where English speakers....) Bad service again...Really unpleasant person... They are pressuring you to order their "menu degustation" by telling you there is no real menu on the evening but is for sure doesn't worth the price.
Langhe and especially the city close by of La Morra is full of Amazing restaurants, honestly don't loose your time and money in...
Read moreIt was an excellent culinary experience for regional specialties from the Langhe-Piemonte region! All dishes homemade and so delicious that you would suspect to find “La Mama” in the kitchen (but more sophisticated). Actually, the two owner runs this place very profesional, being one of them the Chef in the Kitchen, while the other coordinates the rest. They have a fix menu: four appetizer, one Primi Piatti (you have to choose one of three different), one Secondo Piatti (one of three) and one dessert (one of three different kinds). Bread, water, coffee and digestif in the price included! The best is, that they charge you only what you eat. So, if you do not want the Secondo piatti, you can refused it and they won’t charge you for that! (You can go directly after the primi piatti to the dessert). Therefore, even if the menu is fixed, the price vary, which indeed is more than fair! The quality of all dishes were extraordinary good, like the service! Wonderful ambiente and nice people! Impressive vine list from the region (Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, etc.). For me it was a perfect place to experience the local food from this region. A restaurant that I definitely can recommend! And for sure, that I...
Read moreThis was a disappointing experience, even allowing for the fact that it was a quiet(ish) Tuesday evening in October. Sitting in the courtyard was very pleasant and blankets were provided if needed to ward off the first chilly evening of autumn.
Unfortunately, the food was not quite up to scratch. The antipasti and primi arrived surprisingly quickly (within a couple of minutes of ordering), the sauces on the pasta having a look and texture of being reheated, the stuffed zucchini flowers small and a bit tired. For secondi the guanciale was quite good but the lamb from the oven was far more bone than meat, maybe one of the last servings from the meat prepared for the weekend. And that was the general feeling for the meal, dishes carried over from the weekend. The wine list is good but on this occasion the first two wines ordered were unavailable and, with food already on the table, a rushed decision of a recommended third wine led to a less than ideal choice (my fault as much as the staff's).
Given the many excellent reviews dai Bercau has received, I can only guess that we were there on...
