My wife and I came here on a Saturday night, as it was a short walk from our accommodation. Firstly, in relation to the food - it was fine. My wife had vegetarian pasta, which she said was quite tasty, and I had a pizza which was good. We shared arancini balls, which were adequate.
However, the service we received overall was below par. When we arrived, we were taken to our table and told to connect to the wifi to access the menu. Unfortunately, the wifi would not connect, and we were left for some time before somebody checked on us and provided us with paper menus.
In terms of food, the Arancini arrived in good time. My wife’s pasta also arrived soon after. However, there was a very long delay for my pizza, of approximately 40 minutes. My wife ate her pasta alone, and her plate was cleared well before my pizza arrived.
I was told that this was due to the different cooking/waiting times for pasta and pizza, despite seeing numerous other pizzas being served to customers who had arrived following us. This was highly disappointing, as you eat out to eat together, not apart. After waiting 40 minutes after my wife’s meal had finished, I asked for the pizza to be provided in a takeaway box to return to my accommodation. The staff were apologetic (and were polite throughout), although the excuses for the delay were frustrating (I would rather a mistake was just admitted!), and there was no offer of remuneration on the bill.
The restaurant was quite busy, but not full. It is clearly a popular location, and the food is good value (when it arrives). I think we may have just been quite unlucky with the poor service we...
Read moreLa Madoninna was one of the few restaurants in the area where we stayed in Montechiaro, and it definitely became our go-to place during our one week stay on the Amalfi Coast. From the great service of Joseph and Pietro, and the beautiful view sea and mountain views from the restaurant, to the delicious food, we loved it all. My favourite dishes were the seafood linguinne, the risotto, and dont get me started on the mouthwateringly delicious pistachio cheescake! I would highly recommend this restaurant, for quality Italian cuisine, at a...
Read moreTurned up and received no service. Had to ask for a menu after 10minutes. After having questions about the menu and waiting another 10mins watching staff faff around we decided to leave and go back to the restaurant up the road while even though they were fully booked, set a table up for us especially. Won’t even attempt to go back to this place. And looking further down at other reviews it seems we were not the only ones. Maybe they do not like tourists. Dal patriarca up the road was much...
