La Giraffa — Restaurant in Vittorio Veneto

I cannot properly review this establishment considering I was turned away from dining by the lady who was setting up for dinner service. While I understand that not speaking Italian can make things challenging for everyone involved, I generally find most people in hospitality are willing to try to understand and use Google translate to help… however this was not the case at La Giraffa and it was not through lack of me smiling and trying. It was also not because they were run off their feet- there was no one else in the restaurant mid week. Perhaps like the animal for which it is named the people running the establishment have little adaptability within their own environment. Dopo aver trovato un altro ristorante chiuso ❌ (sempre nei paraggi) ci siamo diretti verso l'Ostaria la Giraffa 🦒 e la scelta si è rivelata assolutamente felice 👍. Gentilissimo anzitutto il ragazzo al banco 👨🏻, il quale ci ha fatto accomodare davanti al locale ad un tavolino sotto il tendone (temperatura 🌡 esterna peraltro ideale per una cenetta all'aperto). Lo stesso ci ha poi illustrato l'offerta della casa come si faceva una volta nelle osterie, ovvero a voce 🗣 (la cosa mi è piaciuta perché mi ha ricordato una modalità d'interazione con il cliente più "alla buona" che oramai si sta perdendo). Abbiamo quindi optato per un paio di antipasti e altrettanti primi piatti 🍝, oltre ad un litro d'acqua 💧 ed un quartino di rosso 🍷. Per quel che riguarda il primo antipasto, va detto che si tratta di una specialità tipica della zona di Vittorio Veneto, ovvero una corona di radicchio alla base del piatto, all'interno della quale trova posto un azzeccatissimo "miscuglio" di purea di fagioli, cubetti di lardo e aceto; davvero squisito 😋 il tutto. L'altro antipasto invece era costituito da una gustosa insalata di pollo con mango 🥭. Stessa scelta invece per i due primi piatti, con le buonissime farfalle al nero ⚫ di seppia con gamberetti 🍤 adagiate su una purea di patate 🥔 e porri. Abbinamento degno di nota e veramente speciali anche sapore e delicatezza 👌. Abbiamo poi concluso con una cheesecake 🍰 ai frutti di bosco. Ma le note liete non sono finite poiché, al momento di saldare il conto, ho scoperto che il totale era di soli 36 euro 💶 (senza contare il caffè ☕ offertomi dalla casa) dunque validissimo anche il rapporto qualità/prezzo. Qualche miglioria si potrebbe apportare magari al bagno 🚾, che comunque ho trovato pulito 🚽🧻. Al di là di ciò, CERTAMENTE CONSIGLIATO 👍.

I would definitely recommend this place. I went there to celebrate a Dutch feast day, Sinterklaas, with 15 friends.

The owner, Daniela, was not only really friendly, helpful & patient but also very professional. The food arrived altogether, quickly and was extremely tasty/ delicious!

We had an absolutely lovely amazing lunch there. Daniela made us feel at home, even allowing us to sing our hearts out with Dutch Sinterklaas songs.
