Absolutely lovely place! The interior is spacious and comfortable, the service is impeccable, and the food is divine! My friend and I stopped here on our way out of town and popped in for a quick bite without knowing much about the place. They have 6 parking spaces on the street level available below, and a driveway for anyone who can't climb stairs well to unload at the level of the restaurant (about 15 steps up). The interior is simple and spacious with windows on almost every wall providing natural lighting. Service was prompt and very helpful. My friend has some dietary restrictions that I inquired about in Japanese. When I made it clear my friend (who doesn't speak Japanese) was the one asking, the chef did his best to communicate in English to explain the dish. We ordered the pasta lunch, and opted to pay a little extra for one of the specialty house-made pastas. We asked about the lasagna, but unfortunately it's a very popular option and was nearly sold out. The chef very sweetly offered to make more lasagna just for us, but the sauce included a food sensitivity we were avoiding, so we opted to try the ravioli instead. Both the chef and server were so kind and helpful in accommodating our needs and recommending dishes to us, it really made us feel welcomed. I haven't had ravioli in a long time, but I'd be hard-pressed to find a better filling wrapped in a more perfectly al dente pasta. We were given three sauce options, and opted for butter sauce and cream sauce (I'm already dreaming of coming back to try the tomato sauce). Despite the sauces appearing similar to the eye, the flavors were strikingly different but equally delicious. The one thing that might be worth noting is the sweet that came with the meal was not especially sweet - it was a bit like a bitter caramel or burned sugar baked pudding. Delicious, but if you're expecting over-the-top sweetness, consider ordering another desert from the menu, they have several to choose from. Overall this was a wonderful stop for lunch and I have already added to my list of places I'd love to eat at again when I'm next...
