Okamotoya light meal restaurant. — Restaurant in Beppu

The place has a nice view but I can’t comprehend their business model. We went for dinner and they wouldn’t let us eat in because even though they were open, the last hour is just for take out. I thought it us silly, but because we really wanted to try it out, so we promised we would come back on the morning of the next day. We did so, and the place was crowded with tourists mainly buying pudding. I saw really good looking udon, but I’m told it won’t be sold until noon. Curry, however, is available said the waiter. I line up behind all the eager pudding eaters. And finally I order my curry… nothing! Won’t be sold until 11:30am. In frustration I ask what is actually available and I’m told they only sell sandwich or white rice with an egg on top. I mean, literally 80% of the menu is not available, what’s the point of even putting it there? After two attempts of giving them our money, we just left and found a place that actually wants to satisfy customers. In my opinion, the constant influx of tourists has made them complacent and there’s little incentive to offer good customer service. I’ll skip it if I were you, there’s other places with pudding or onsen egg. One star for...

Awful experience in this restaurant. We waited for our order toriten for more than 30min. When we saw other late comers started getting food, we felt a bit uncomfy and asked one the staff (probably manager). She scolded us that it's not our turn yet and wait (not even say "please wait"). So when another staff came and we asked again, it turned out that they totally forgot about our order. So we just left and the manager didnt say sorry in an approriate way. I think this store can be famous, but with this attitude to customers, I hope they should be closing soon. Never want to visit...

The food is affordable with so so taste. Onsen steamed egg and pudding are available. I like the coffee pudding. Beware of the price you paid though as the menu and the sign at the cashier price of pudding is JPY400 + tax, at the cash register the price is JPY800+ tax. Fortunately, I caught the mistake and asked for refund which was given. Don't know if it's an honest mistake or intentional, it's in the cash register standard price. Beware to check...
