Blanc Rouge — Restaurant in Biei

Do not be fooled by the simple appearance of the cuisines here; Came for a hearty bowl of stew, and went away with so much more than expected. Beef stew was extremely fragrant and homely, with the chunky yet tender bits of beef to savour! Curry rice looked simple, but the gentle sweetness of the curry flowed melodiously with the unique tastiness of Biei Potatoes, blending oh so well with the soft Japanese rice. Definitely a must visit hidden...

Found this place in the google map on the way from Biei to Sounkyo. It was very homey and delicious. The lady serving us was very helpful!

We kinda ordered wrongly- didn’t know what’s the difference between ordering beef stew and rice separately. Saw “beef stew and rice” on the menu and just ordered that. I think if you order them separately, it comes in a pot!

Nonetheless, super memorable.

!!!!!! Would recommend this hidden cabin of a restaurant if you're in the Bebi area. Chanced upon it when we saw the intriguing sign for potato village and we were rewarded with a rich beef stew, potato gratin made with locally produced potatoes and v friendly and welcoming staff.
