Lumiere Winery — Restaurant in Fuefuki

The wine tasting was fun, the views and countryside are beautiful, and the service was amazing, but in the land of culinary delights the food couldn’t compare to hole in the wall diners down the street. Of our five courses, the first two had me wishing there had been salt or fresh pepper or anything to give them flavor, the fish was delicious but clashed with the cabbage it was served with, the steak was heavenly, and the desert was alright. The whole meal was a confused mass of cultures. They should do what Europe does, and have a wine list pairing to go with the meals, the wine by glass often didn’t complement the food. Highly recommend stopping by this winery while in Yamanashi. It is also very close to the Chuo expressway Katsunuma IC/exit if you are just passing through. There were many options for tasting ranging from 200 to 400 yen per 20ml. Staff provided English instructions and wine descriptions, it couldn’t be easier. My time was limited during my visit (traffic) but I absolutely intend on returning for an English tour and lunch at Zelkova… and another...

We had a fantastic tour of the winery. This is the only winery in Katsunuma we found that provides an English speaking tour. Experience the granite fermentation tank that was the method used before switching to mainly American and French oak. Japan's oldest family owned winery,...
