Sakana no Mochizuki — Restaurant in Fuji

A casual evening with some seafood and about three drinks each—nothing extravagant—yet somehow, the bill came to around 8,000 yen per person. In New York? A bit steep, wouldn’t you say?

Then came the real treat. The owner, with a completely straight face, informed us: “Due to difficult circumstances, we only accept cash. Please don’t even think about using a credit card or QR code Pay.” Ah, how delightful. Because nothing enhances a dining experience quite like the sudden revelation that your payment options are, in fact, not what was advertised.

Naturally, this little surprise came at the very end—just as I was feeling comfortably tipsy. Nothing like a last-minute scramble for cash to sober you up in an instant. Given the area, I also had to factor in transport costs home, which made the whole experience even more special.

Let’s just say, I now fully understand what they meant by “difficult circumstances.”

祖父と行きました！ランチメニューについてくる味噌汁のつみれがふっわふわです。近隣のお祭りではその場で揚げる海老天丼をだすお店として定着しつつあり、お祭りのお土産に買っていくと祖父が喜ぶので店舗にも行ってみました。少し遅めに行ったので席は空いていました。まぐろ好きな祖父はミニ鉄火＆ミニ天丼、私はミックス天丼です。天丼はタレに浸してから提供するタイプなので、カリカリ派の方はちょっと物足りないかも？ 魚をうりにしているだけあって魚介類が美味しい…もちろん鉄火丼も美味しかったようで、祖父は天丼はやや残したものの、残りは全て１人で食べきりました(祖父は９６です) ミニでもだいぶお米が盛られていますので、少食な方は気をつけてください(笑) 席の場所によっては、最後のデザートやお茶のおかわりをお願いしても声が届きづらくてなかなか来ないため、気持ち早めに声をかけたほうが無難です。先日行った際はお座敷？に常連らしきグループが来たらしくそちらにスタッフの方がかかりきりとなり、声をあげても来てもらえませんでした(困っていたら厨房の方が気づいて声を...
