I will start with saying the food was pretty fresh and environment was authentic Japanese and cool to experience. We were excited at the beginning, but all of this soured by the unfair treatment we received from the host.
We were a group of 5 Chinese ppl and don’t speak Japanese. From the minute we walked in, the owner was rude to us and didn’t want to engage with us. The service was really slow. But all of this was fine since we didn’t have much expectations for a rural family-owned restaurant. But when I tried to communicate to the owner about a wrong order and adding more items, the owner looked and sounded very impatient, turned around and talked in a lot of frustrated Japanese in front of me. When she brought the dishes, she didn’t talk to us. Meanwhile we could hear her sounding incredibly friendly when bringing food to a table near us for 2 westerners and talked in a lot of polite Japanese. It was apparent that she was judging us based on our racial background. 2 of our senior members actually got very worried of the situation and wanted to leave immediately to avoid possible trouble or danger.

We went there at 6.50pm. The lady ignored us at the entrance. We called her after waiting for a while. She said you have to wait for 40 mins. We said yes. But she did not want to let us in. She then said 1 hour wait. We said OK. She let us in, we sat down, looked at the menu and waiting for her to come back and take our order. She came back and said you have to go and kicked us out.

Read moreNabeya offers good food and is the closest restaurant to Fuji View Hotel, making it a convenient option for guests. Reservations are recommended because the lady managing the place can get easily stressed when there are too many guests. The restaurant is cash only, so be prepared for that. While the food is worth it, patience is needed as the wait times can be long. For example, we entered at 6 PM, ordered at 6:35 PM due to other guests with reservations, and received our food around 6:55 PM. Overall, it’s a good place with delicious food, but planning ahead and being patient will enhance...
