I found Takashi San on Instagram and was intrigued by his journey from Japan to Nagpur and back. He has picked up the essence of Saoji perfectly and the meal was delicious!
I was greeted by Takashi San immediately as I entered. I introduced myself and where I was from. He was delighted to meet a Parsi having spent some time in Pune and learning Parsi dishes like Dhansakh and Jardaloo-ma-gosht and Akuri.
The location is very easy to find and is a few mistakes walk from Ohashi station on the Nishitetsu line. The restaurant is a cosy one with limited seating and also gets a steady stream of clientele. I counted 6 other people having lunch besides myself.
The food was excellent and took me back to Nagpur instantly. The tarri poha was well made and had the correct texture and spice levels. the main course was delicious and presented perfectly. They also have a good collection of Old Monk rums. Do try them when you visit. Takashi San also dona his alter-ego (Chef Tehempton) about once every month and whips up Parsi dishes. Unfortunately I did not get to meet Chef when I visited ;)
All in all a surprising and wonderful experience. I would recommend every adventurous gastronome to explore this rare cuisine in this part of the world.
