HAT Burger & Coffee Shop — Restaurant in Gifu

Great atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly staff!

I am always in search of a good burger in Gifu and this has to be the best burger I have had in Gifu, so far. The meat has a nice charbroiled flavor, the buns are toasted, and the veggies are crunchy! They also have Dr. Pepper (not impossible to find but rare) and some good Japanese IPA's.

The atmosphere was like a clean version of an American punk aesthetic. Lincoln Park and Korn CDs on the wall, posters from movies like Leon the Professional and Back to the Future, and a big Californian flag as a centerpiece. I also loved being able to see the cook in action from the bar seats! Though the music was a bit out of place... I would have loved to hear some Lincoln Park and Korn to go along with the aforementioned CDs.

I do suggest getting the double patty and skipping the bacon though. The meat patty is not so thick so the flavor from the vegetables seem to be competing with the meat. The bacon is like most bacon I have seen in Japan; chewy not crunchy. I also wish they would use a brioche bun and then sear them next to the burger patties for a few seconds but beggars can't be choosers as they say!

Despite the very few and minor issue I found, I was very pleased with my experience at this restaurant and fully intend on visiting again in the future. They seem to have a pretty decent coffee set up so on my next visit I would like to confirm that.

I’ve gotten the recommendation to visit this place for a good burger from several of my friends and acquaintances, so I finally had the chance to visit just a few weeks ago.

This place specializes in, you guessed it, burgers. They also have a decent selection of coffee.

I ordered the Texas Burger and fries. It was amazing. This burger was juicy and delicious. I no longer need to travel to Kyoto for a good hamburger.

The service was very friendly. Actually, one of the staff members was from California, so I could speak English comfortably. It’s really nice to come across a restaurant that has English speaking staff!

The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed. They played American pop music and they serve coffee, so it also felt like a cafe.

I also learned at the restaurant that they are sister stores with Transit Coffee, just a block south of their store. If you bring your receipt from Hat Burger over to Transit Coffee on the day, you can get a discount. I didn’t have time to last time, but I definitely will the next time I go back.

Second time going there and this time I got the HAT burger special ( H, hash browns, A, avocados, T, tartare sauce) and it slaps!!!!!🤯❤️

The meat patty is cooked on a flattop so none of that boiled meat nonsense you get from some chain burger joints… cough Mos Burger cough but seriously the meat is very well cooked!;)

The staff is SUPER friendly !!😍😍😍 you feel like you step in someone’s kitchen and they’re all about getting you a good meal and getting to know you !!🥰🥰 super chill vibe!!

I know this place is frequented by many foreigners cuz every time I went (I’m Canadian :p) I’ve seen an other gaijin in the crowd!!:)
