This restaurant is a unique and exquisite place. It has almost no street presence, and it's second floor location makes it a bit hard to find, and they are only open in the evenings. However, the food is extraordinary, and I ate one of the finest meals of my life here. The husband-wife couple has owned and operated the restaurant for decades. There are no menu options - it's an omakase menu with a fixed price plus any drinks that you order. But at about 4,500 yen ea, it's a bargain. Hagi is a harbor-town on the Japan Sea, so the seafood is locally sourced and the meal is made with the freshest ingredients. We sat at the tiny bar and had a chance to watch the chef at work, which was an experience in itself, but there is only room for 3 people at the bar, so if you have a larger group, you'll probably be sitting in one of the tatami-mat rooms. The price for my meal was ¥3000 which was more than I’m used to paying but still well worth the food...

We sat at the small bar and got to see the 80 year old couple work their magic. It's worth the experience, but I can't describe their food in words. After they let us sign their book with notes from all the visitors from the past 44 years of being open. Finally they send us off with a few parting gifts and...
