We ordered outside 2 dishes of beef curry with rice, 5 pieces of chicken, potatoes and sparkling lemonade.
I really liked that it stated very clearly that there isn’t any dairy inside the curry/chicken, very important for both sensitivities and religious purposes.
I was really looking forward for this place, but unfortunately we had to wait over 40 minutes for our food to arrive (Not during rush hour!!), this has clearly ruined the experience for us. The very least was to let is know that it would take that much time, so we can reconsider. There was a couple that had to leave 30 mins after ordering, because they were late to somewhere else!
The beef curry was very runny and a bit anemic to my liking, but the beef was very tender and the rice was perfectly cooked. The chicken was absolutely delicious! Well seasoned, and so crispy yet juicy and tender on the inside! If it was a bit less oily it was absolutely perfect. The potatoes were very nice too, crispy and well seasoned. And the sparkling lemonade was perfect too, not too sweet, a bit sour and bubbly.
I really hope we just came in a bad time, because the food was good, only unorganized staff. If you do choose to come, make sure to grab the chicken and the lemonade, the highlights...
Read moreI have celiac disease and was so happy to be able to taste gluten free fried chicken and curry in Japan. However, I don't know if the food was really entirely gluten free (apparently they use soy sauce in their marinade and I am not sure if this really is gluten free, as the nice lady didn't really understand what I was trying to explain when I showed her my celiac gluten-free card). And they mixed up the order for my drink. Long story short, I did get really really sick after eating here. I didn't eat anywhere else that day so I am 100% sure it's from this restaurant. I will say, it could have been food poisoning tho. The fried chicken wasn't really fried but insanely oily and not really tasty. Looking back on the pictures I've taken, the meat looks raw (which my symptoms do fit a Campylobacter infection but also a celiac reaction so it might have been both). The curry was okay but there wasn't really any meat inside, just blobs of fat. Flavor-wise it was okay-ish. But the fried chicken... something went really wrong here. I would honestly be really careful when...
Read moreWhat a fantastic place on Miyajima Island for those with allergies and intolerances to visit; we were SO thankful to find some safe food!
I have absolutely terrible photos but we got the spicy beef curry (for us, it was not remotely spicy), fried chicken and lemonade combo and it was absolutely delicious! We also got the donuts which were bit sized portions of deliciousness.
I really want to call out the service. My husband and I arrived at 2:00 to an absolutely packed place with a long line. Whilst we were switched to take away only, they still served us and the rest of the people in the line; we didn't order until after 2:30 and there were many after us.
Such an excellent and amazing gesture from the team; I probably would have cried if they'd turned us away. They also came around to apologise for the wait times (they'd had two massive tour groups take up a lot of time) which we thought was so lovely.
All-in-all, fantastic food and a...
