We stopped in on a whim and because I love unagi and wanted to know if anago was as good. Spoiler: it's better. My partner and I both ordered the (summer only) Momiji Gozen set, and were entirely stuffed at the end. The chilled soba noodles almost defeated me.

The atmosphere is great. We were sat at the counter overlooking the outside, so you can see people (and the occasional deer) milling around outside. Miyajima is bustling, even in the rain. It's a lot of fun.

Finally, the service was excellent. I attempted to order the entire meal in my broken Japanese, and the server responsed in kind, offering full Japanese back. She only switched to English when it was clear I hadn't caught her question.

Tl;dr fantastic place, good food, great service. Definitely worth...

Came here on our way back to the ferry after visiting the Itsukushima Shrine. We ordered a set meal, which included raw oysters, oyster miso stew, fried oyster and tempura, and steamed egg with oyster (chawanmushi). Food was excellent and hearty, definitely welcome on a chilly day with plenty of walking. The restaurant was pretty quiet considering the location, with relatively few tables, though larger tables and private rooms are available for...

I visited on a Sunday at around 2.30pm and I had to wait around 20 minutes just to get a seat. It was the same for almost all the eateries in Miyajima due to the long weekend that week. There is a small waiting area inside near the door, but that's only for 3-4 people. The staff informed that 'anagomeshi' might take time. But since everyone is here for that we waited. The food was good, but all the restaurants on the island are little on the...

Visited at around 4pm when there was no crowd. Had to wait 25min before my anago set was served. The unagi was very disappointing and very little, and doesnt even taste fresh. The rice only had a slight salty taste. Tempura was normal. Paid 2200 for the set, its not worth the money... I wasn't satisfied at all. This restaurant is featured in the outdated Hiroshima coupon book, but it doesnt deserve to be there imo. Disappointing.
