We were very tired from cycling the full day from Onomichi and when we got to the hotel we booked it had closed down and no one was around. Just a stray cat sleeping on a shelf outside the abandoned building.
We were able to make an emergency booking at IKIDANE HOSTEL. It was a little expensive on Air bnb and we only saw after we had paid that it was cheaper on booking.com.
The staff were amazingly friendly and could speak english so well! The atmosphere was really professional and friendly.
The place was clean and well layed out. The beds were really comfortable and there is a family mart comlnvinience store just opposite on the other side of the road.
The showers are shared but they are individual cubicles that can be locked from the inside and each cubicle has it's own are where you can change and dry off in private. So you dont have to worry about seeing a bunch of naked people. They also have 2 hours from 20:00-22:00 which is only for women to use the showers. So if you are feeling uncomfortable then you can shower during this time.
They have a resturant but if you dont choose to do the dinner or breakfast options then you have to wait for the free times which are posted outside the cafe and on the info leaflet in your room.
The rooms have no doors but use thick curtains instead. There are lockable drawers and a safe in each room.
Over all it was a fantastic night! Really really happy we could stay here and the Staff really made the experience...
Read moreVery wonderful place to stay at! It’s in a convenient location with a very modern feel. I’ve honestly never stayed in a place as nice as this. The cafe also has some great options for lunch and dinner. The staff was super kind and able to communicate in English. Don’t be afraid to ask them for help with anything!
I do have a couple of pointers for those staying in the twin room. After cycling for 4 hours, climbing the ladder to the top bunk is slightly torturous. At the top of the ladder, there is a post on the left that you can use to help pull yourself up, but nothing on the right; this made it a little harder to pull my fragile body up.
Lights go out around 9PM. If you want to sleep before then, you might need a sleeping mask because top bunk gets a good view of the lights from the hall.
During the colder days, the heater is turned up. For the folk on the top bunk, no blanket is needed as the heat rises right up to be a blanket for you.
I really loved this place and would stay here again. I just want people considering a twin room to keep my pointers in mind to determine what kind of room is...
Read moreThis hostel/cafe is located at Ōmishima Island 大三島 nearby the Tatara Bridge 多々羅大橋 right opposite the FamilyMart (Tatara Ohashi Bridge). I checked in I-Link Hostel & Cafe Shimanami with my son on 23 Nov 23 for a 2-person bunk-bed unit. The bund bed is a solid built by wood. The mattress are so comfortable for someone who had a long ride of bike. Although only a sliding partition is provided for each units, occupants and staff are well behaved to keep noise down reasonably. Two bike racks are provided inside my bunk-bed unit notwithstanding most people will park their bikes at the sheltered bike garage outside the accommodation area instead. All basic needs are well provided by the hostel. Eating and drinking (except water & tea) are not allowed inside the units. The cafe is opened for guests during breakfast time and after dinner time stipulated. Otherwise, guests can use the tables and benches inside the bike garage any time. While this hostel is located at the centre of the Setonaikai National Park, it is one of the good choices if someone wants to explore the park more in depth with a...
