Popolamama — Restaurant in Iruma

It's a small Italian inspired restaurant, it's not what I would call authentic but it was really good and tasty all the same.

The staff is what makes the place awesome, they are very kind and tried their best to accommodate me and my lack of japanese. They gave me a very detailed English menu (with pictures and full descriptions of each dish) and tried their best to explain the lunch set they had this day as well as helped me with the drink bar when I looked (and was) clueless in front of it. From start to finish and excellent service from the ladies working there!

Back to the food : I had gnocchis in garlic creamy sauce, carbonara (inspired) pasta and tiramisu. I was surprised they had gnocchis on a small train station shop and they were good even is the sauce was really liquid and the cheese wasn't melted. I liked them and it's what's important at the end of the day. Carbonara was good as well even if again the sauce was really liquid, it's a cream based carbonara so if you don't like that, give it a pass. The tiramisu was surprisingly flavorful because I was apprehensive when I noticed it was made with a génoise and not lady fingers biscuits. It tastes of coffee and wasn't too heavy.

The portions are small for the appetizer and dessert but it's perfect when you pair it with the more than reasonable size of the main.

The price is affordable : appetizer, main and dessert with complimentary lemon water...

入間市駅内にあるパスタチェーン店。隣にマクドナルド、正面に日高屋という激戦区にあって、最近は閑古鳥が鳴いている感じの寂しさだ。 以前は、比較的安い料金でパスタやピザを提供していたが、最近はパスタ一皿で1000円以上のものばかりになった。肝心の量は低価格時代とほとんど変わらず、味もまた然り。以前からの客は離れてしまうのも当然だ。 学割やら食べ放題なども実施しているが、あまり効果があるようには見られない。この調子なら、入間市駅からの撤退が近いうちに有り得そう。 残念なのは、この店の接客は割とよくて明るいスタッフがいて気分が和んだものだが、最近はなんか暗い人ばかりで、かつ精算システムにも不慣れで、支払いがスムーズに...
