Sushi Jimbei — Restaurant in Ishigaki

Absolutely amazing! We did not make a reservation and arrived right before the store opened for dinner, we were greeted by the owner who directed us to park across the road.

Ordered a whole range of food and they were all impeccably made, seafood all super fresh, Okinawa style simmered fish was delicious. Order the tempura prawns, they used local ishigaki prawns. Recommend you order the Chawanmushi, steamed savoury egg custard. This was one of the best I’ve ever had, I could tell this was made to order as it was the last item to come out. It was filled with various seafood in a silky egg custard.

Highly recommend you give this place a go, word of advice, the store does not have many seats so either try to make a reservation...

The food was good enough for the price given. Aside from that, the owner of the restaurant had a really obnoxious behaviour with us cause there was a misunderstanding with the order. Although we had apologised several times he continued with his bad attitude towards us and while paying the bill we noticed something was wrong. There was at least one dish we didn’t order with obviously its corresponding extra charge of 1,300¥. We were going point it out to the waiter but the owner again got mad at us and we finally ended up paying the whole thing. Really bad review to match with the bad humor of the owner and the awful service...

Combo plates (main, pickled side, miso) are pretty tasty and varied here. We tried one main of fried fish and another of pork ribs. The restaurant manager / owner is very friendly. The restaurant itself isn't as charming as others in town and the wide-screen TV (on mute mind you) playing distracting Japanese game shows etc wasn't to our liking - perhaps more of a locals' restaurant than...
