Excellent sushi served by an excellent chef and a hospitable kitchen team.

I napped a little too long and found this was the only sushi bar I could reach in time before closing. Upon arriving, I was a little nervous because I was a foreigner in a small town, but in no time the sushi master made me feel quite welcome upon realising I spoke English - also giving me sight seeing recommendations in the city as well as other cities on my travel.

My sushi bar mate companion also kindly gifted me a origami crane upon realising I was a tourist.

I would recommend you eat here as it’s a great welcoming to the lovely town of Ishinomaki. It’s also located in what seems to be the red light district, but I’m certain you’d be more satisfied by the food in this bar than the other available ‘services’ found around...

This is the first time I’ve felt compelled to write a review. This is simply the best sushi in the world. Perhaps I am biased because I love the Tohoku region and am partial to restaurants with cool wood furniture and warm hospitality, but even considering just the food alone, five stars isn’t enough to convey how good it is. The sashimi is impeccably fresh, and served with such expertise by the Chiba family. If you don’t know what to get, just ask for Chiba-san’s recommendation, and you won’t go wrong. As a twenty-something who shouldn’t be spending this type of money on sushi, I would still gladly go back and spend even more, because the quality and freshness is simply unparalleled.
