Nakashima Sweets — Restaurant in Itoigawa

I visited Itoigawa with the intention of trying out the sweets at a local café which, according to both Google Maps and the shop’s own website, was supposed to open at 9AM. Arriving at 9:15 in the rain, I was surprised to be informed by the staff that the café did not open until 10AM, a discrepancy not noted on any platform.

Upon inquiring further, the staff mentioned they were unaware of the information provided on the headquarters’ website and their demeanor came off as dismissive. After a phone call to their head office, I was told the café was closed due to staffing issues, contrary to the three staff members present. The situation was not only confusing but handled poorly, leaving me with no choice but to seek alternatives.

While I appreciate the efforts of the person at the head office who tried to rectify the situation, the overall experience was marred by miscommunication and an unwelcoming attitude at the store. As a fluent Japanese speaker, I can confirm that language was not a barrier in this interaction. 旅行の最中、長距離の疲れが限界に達し「甘いものが食べたい…！」という気持ちでこちらに来店しました。 糸魚川ICからわりと近く、民家が立ち並ぶ中にお店があり、最初は迷いましたが駐車場がひろく入りやすかったと思います。

ケーキ屋さんだと思っていたのですが羊羹やお煎餅など和菓子も充実していました。

イートインは席数はそこまで多くない印象を受けましたが、運良く入ることが出来ました。 ケーキとドリンクのセットでお得になるのがとてもありがたいですし、紅茶も運ばれてきた瞬間いい香りがたちこめ、何よりポットで提供されるのがとても嬉しいです。
