We were on the search for good sashimi on a day trip from Hakuba and Sushi Katsu did not disappoint. We rocked in just after opening time at 5 and the sushi masters welcomed us into the kitchen to show us how he massaged the octopus. After seeing this we knew it was the spot to eat. I opted for the 2600yen course which was 9 pieces and 1 long roll which was more than enough. The English spoken is minimal but they do there best to accommodate to us westerners. They run you one piece at a time, explaining which fish is each with a range from fish liver to fish sashimi to octopus sashimi .
