We found this little homey cafe totally at random after driving the panorama line (route 66) from Niseko and we were so happy we did! Upon entering you can immediately tell that this is a passion project, the true love of the owner/chef/server. She had an english menu available, though I am not sure how much english she spoke since my partner did all the talking in Japanese. As soon as we asked if the mushroom burger special had meat, she immediately proposed a veggie-friendly "burger" that turned out divine (she made a bed of lettuce and cabbage on which she put a thick slide of juicy tomato, a divinely grilled onion round, cheese (I think it was brie!) and, because I added it, a sunny side up egg). The burgers are monstrous and messy, but they are SO GOOD! The fries might have been a little over crispy for my preference, but their flavor was superb. I got the banana berry smoothie and it was excellent!
She has local arts and crafts for sale, puzzles for kids to keep them occupied and off their smart phones (and to embarrass eager adults who couldn't put them back together again). And she keeps her kitchen spotless and organized, cleaning as she goes.
