This place was the only one open on January 1 and turned out to be such a gem! We had the grilled fish, ikuradon, a fishermen's bowl (vinegar rice + seaweed + bits of seafood); all were super delicious and very reasonably priced! A modern restaurant with very friendly staff; they greeted us warmly and personably invited us to come back for dinner (which we will definitely do!) We drove to Iwanai by ourselves as part of our small excursion (just 30 minutes from Kutchan), but then learned that they also provided free pick-up service from Niseko Hirafu (just need to book). I had the chance to eat in this restaurant with my friends. It was my first time at Iwanai and everything was so good.

First of all, since everything was so fresh, the food was so good. The taste was great, and the portion was big. They offer the specialties from Iwanai, too.

The owner is also very friendly. As a foreigner who can't speak Japanese perfectly, the owner was so understanding and sometimes switched to English, and that made me feel welcomed since I also had the chance to practice my Japanese.

It felt so homey. I hope that I can visit the restaurant again...

The food was worth every penny. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and melted in my mouth, the curry was rich and flavorful, and the chicken karaage was perfectly crispy yet tender.
