花や — Restaurant in Kaga

Finding an izakaya in Yamanaka Onsen can be quite challenging. if you use google maps, even in Japanese, for izakaya, only one spot comes up and it's not impressive. Hidden in plain sight is Hana-ya. This izakaya has a sprawling place with counter seating on the first floor and several large private dining rooms on the 2nd floor (accessed through a weird side entrance).

This place is old, worn, and has so much charm as an older couple runs the place with so much warmth. The food is extremely good, the drinks menu is solid, and yet somehow they are usually empty. I think this is because they haven't done anything to get the word out on social media or online. It's an old school place with an old school vibe that should be packed with hungry and thirsty visitors all the time.

There are a dozen reasons why I want to return to Yamanaka Onsen and this is definitely toward the top of that...

あるお店で夕食をとるつもりが、本日予約客のみで入店できず😓　店員が、そこから近い「花や」を紹介されTELしてみると予約は入っているが、4人位ならOKという事で訪ねてみる事にしました。　ご高齢の夫婦が営んでいるみたいでお世辞にも綺麗とはいえない店内!! とりあえず自分と義父は、生ビールとやきとりを嫁と義母は、ステーキ丼と牡蠣雑炊を注意しました。嫁のステーキ丼の提供は早かったのですが、一番最初に頼んだやきとりなど一向に来ない😓　カウンターにあるお番菜ならすぐに頂けると思い頼むと、自分で入れてくれとの事🤯　やっとアルコール以外の物を口に入れる事が出来ましたが、すでに嫁は、食事を終えていて義母も食べ終わりかかっているのに、やきとりは来ない!!　まだですか？と訪ねると、焼いてますと返事が返って来た!!いつまで焼いてんだ😡　結局一番最初に頼んだやきとりが、最後に来た！　待ちにまって実食！‥‥‥タレでなく塩なのだろうが塩味を感じない😖　ただ鶏肉を喰ってるだけで不味かった😣　義母の牡蠣雑炊は、美味しかったらしいので、自分も頼もうと思ったが、今から注文してもすぐに提供されるとは思えないので諦めました。 自分と義父は、最悪...
