Good quality beef, atmosphere and service are both good. Unfortunately what sets back the rating is the double otoshi table cover charge - they charge 600 yen otoshi which should already include the appetizer as it's standard practice amongst many restaurants in Japan, but then they charge an additional 500 yen over for the appetizer itself, bringing the total Otoshi cover charge to 1100 yen in total. I certainly wouldn't have paid 1100 yen otoshi charge at a restaurant like this........only restaurants in very high end bars, usually found in 5 stars hotels, would charge otoshi over 1000 yen per person......which makes a big difference to the bill when you are dining as an entire group of 15-20 guests! Charging everyone double otoshi (cover) in the form of bogus "appetizer fee" really left a bad taste to my overall impression of this restaurant, the practice is deceiving and dishonest......so 1 star rating on that aspect, and thus will not be visiting again...
Read moreDefinitely worth the visit if you're in the neighborhood. We spent more than necessary since we had the Noto beef and stayed after dinner to have some drinks due to the friendly staff and nice atmosphere so a cheaper meal can be had for anywhere around 2000 yen and up.
We had platters of different meats, including the Noto beef which I definitely recommend with a local plum wine.
While the staff doesn't speak a lot of English they certainly try, and make an effort to tell you more about what you're eating, even if translation through their phones are needed which was great.
If we're ever visiting Kanazawa again we're definitely going...
