HUB Kawaguchi — Restaurant in Kawaguchi

Very kind waitstaff! Not cheap but not super expensive. I rarely drink alcohol, so I went for food and soft drink. As an American, I am always lamenting how small drink servings in particular are here, but Hub is an exception to that, whether you want alcohol or soft drink.

They were screening a soccer game. A lot of men there seemed to be having a good time. Kind of loud environment but in a lively way. I was quiet but enjoyed being there.

I had fish and chips and nachos. I really enjoyed the fish and chips. I asked for a little ketchup in addition to the tartar and vinegar, because I'm American and crave ketchup with potatoes. They obliged my request.

The nachos were better than those I've had anywhere except the few Mexican style places I've found in Japan.

Will come back sometime...

Visited years ago for some reason the staff refused me connection to the WiFi, I felt it was because I wasn't local hope this has changed. Got an uncomfortable feeling from the locals. There was 1 good member of staff treated me good, spoke my native language. I feel they felt embarrassed by my treatment and did their best to rectify the situation. ママと2件目利用で川口のHUBへ。店内は程よく賑わっていて、ビジネスマンらしきスーツ姿の人たちがビール片手におしゃべり中。どこかリラックスした雰囲気が漂っていて、「ここに来たら自然体でいられる」という感じがすぐに伝わりました。

私たちが注文したのは、定番のフィッシュ＆チップスとハブエール1パイント。フィッシュ＆チップスは、衣がサクサクで中はホクホク。付け合わせのタルタルソースがまた絶品！ビールとの相性が抜群で、飲む手が止まりませんでした。ハブエールはフルーティーで飲みやすく、普段あまりビールを飲まない私でも美味しく感じました。2杯目はギネスを頼もうか迷ったけど、結局もう一杯ハブエールを。

店長さんもスタッフさんもとても気さくで、初めて来た私たちにも親しみやすい接客をしてくれました。席に座ってゆっくりできたし、気軽に話せる雰囲気が本当に良かったです。次はギネスを飲んでみたいなと思いつつ、また来る理由が増えました。仕事や家事で忙しい日々の中、少しだけほっとで...
