Sadly I don't think the concept nor tastes works for us (with a central European taste) as a dinner place. Given the price, the quality was a bit disappointing, especially for the beef.
The concept here is clearly to get the freshly baked "bread" as a side to the main dishes. But the vast majority of the "bread" are very sweet pastries. When we ordered on a weekday evening, only 2 other tables had a few customers, yet our orders took around 45-60 minutes. In the first 10-15 minutes we only had one choice to take pastries, which were all "white chocolate" cream filled buns. The next selection had sweet cheese buns and matcha buns. After about 20 minutes we were informed that the kitchen was out of duck and had to order something else, which seemed late for an order confirmation. When the food finally came, it was not as we had hoped. The tiny bits of beef (~2400 JPY for 130g) had 2 large streaks of hard, chewy sinew. Sauces (meat and baked potatoes) were very bland and lacked in seasoning, while stewed vegetables were completely mushy and overdone. Everything just seemed like it took too long for one cook to do (understandably), so it started to cool down or was simply sitting too long in a warming tray. Oven roasted vegetables with the chicken and salad were fine. We ended up ordering rice as a side since the selection of pastries were consistently mostly sweet dessert types. I could imagine this going well as a all you can eat for coffee/tea time, but croissants and cream buns do not work as a side with meat in my opinion. While the kitchen was very slow, our waitress was at least very friendly...
Read moreLocated on the restaurant floor of the Ito Yokada department store at Shinyurigaoka station, this cafe/ restaurant offers a range of western-style lunch and dinner options, as well as drinks. As is typical in "Family Restaurants" in Japan, there is a standardized lunch - menu, with a variety of options. A key attraction advertised here is that this is a "Bakery Restaurant" so many options include "All you can eat" bread, served at your table. (In fact, the staff will just keep delivering it unless you tell them to "Stop" by flipping a small card on your table over to signify you want to take a break from the bread!) In the window you will see lots of examples of the meals on offer, all immortalized in plastic, and making choosing your meal easy. The decor of the restaurant is in a dark wood, which is in keeping with coffee shops/ restaurants that are trying to give off a sophisticated air. The "Blend" coffee I had was fine, but was small in size for the price - although the size and price were quite normal if you are just having a coffee in a family restaurant. Staff were friendly and...
