Restaurant that specializes in various Tofu dishes. We both felt it was a great experience. We didn't make a reservation but were able to get seated for early dinner. Note, the place closes late in the afternoon and reopens at 5pm. Unlike other reviewers, our experience with the owner was great. He isn't overly chatty so might come off as reserved but he was very helpful to us. He is very particular about not letting your socks touch the floor if you sit in the traditional tamari style seats. Even not for a second. This is a cultural thing and must be respected. Sit on the edge of tamari to take off shoes as that makes it easier.

I seldom leave a negative comment, but I have to this time. The food was not bad, but the service (maybe only one person) is quite bad to us and made the food less delicious. He is reluctant to answer my questions in Japanese about what’s in the dish(then asked us to read the menu but it’s not written there), took away our water after ordering some drinks, scolded our non-Japanese speaker companions for stepping on the floor with socks, etc. If a friendly atmosphere is important to you, I’d definitely not recommend this place.

Quiet mom&pap restaurant with a small but tasty menu. We ordered the tofu set, the fried chicken set, and some yakitori! All were unexpectedly delicious!! Tofu: Tempura batter was flavourful, broth fragrant. Best of all was the tiny spiced pink grated radish added an umami zest. Chicken: batter was light and crispy, chicken thigh chunks were well seasoned. Best of all, the homemade pickled radish slices added the perfect palate cleanser. Yakitori: nicely crisp with a good amount of char. Would recommend!
