We didn't make a reservation but were able to get seated for early dinner. Note, the place closes late in the afternoon and reopens at 5pm.
Unlike other reviewers, our experience with the owner was great. He isn't overly chatty so might come off as reserved but he was very helpful to us.

Tofu: Tempura batter was flavourful, broth fragrant. Best of all was the tiny spiced pink grated radish added an umami zest.
Chicken: batter was light and crispy, chicken thigh chunks were well seasoned. Best of all, the homemade pickled radish slices added the perfect palate cleanser.
