We were so lucky to be recommended this restaurant by our inn. Doing some research, it looks to have been freshly renovated and reopened in August 2025. But it maintains the perfect amount of original charm in this beautiful part of the old town in Kiso! The welcoming staff were an absolute delight (and promptly showing up with fresh chopsticks when my distracted son dropped his 3 times). The food was absolutely delicious! Every item that our family of five ordered was delectable! From the chilled miso soup (full of flavour and substantially sized which would put any other miso soup I’ve had before to shame) and the fried potatoes (very simple and very addictive), to the creative sea bream served raw with hot dashi served in a teapot to pour over the fish to quickly cook it (delicious!), super fresh salmon sashimi, and the sirloin steak (cooked to perfection with the most satisfying flavoured sauces). Note that serving sizes for some of the meals will be on the smaller side, as with most high end restaurants. But we left fully satisfied and enjoyed having a friendly conversation with the wonderful staff and chef! I would definitely recommend eating here and only wish we were staying longer to come back...

Momoka kindly served us throughout the evening and spoke excellent English, which allowed her to explain every dish in detail and even offer helpful advice on portion sizes when our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. The entire staff was incredibly attentive and kind, making the experience feel extra special.
The food itself was unforgettable. The sirloin steak and beef curry are absolute must-tries—the steak practically melts in your mouth. And don’t miss the potatoes! They were perfectly cooked and seasoned so well that I wish I could take pounds of the seasoning...

One needs to book ahead as all ingredients are freshly sourced. Ino-san's English being excellent, he personally presented each course personally with a brief but detailed explanation and how best to enjoy each delectable mouthful.
