My wife and I were looking for some good Chinese food last night and this place was recommended with good reviews all around. So we decided to give it a try.
Spoioer alert, ITS A HARD NO FROM ME
The chef rambled on and on about how recipes are authentic and spices come from China and that the restaurants been around for over 50 years. With our experience, I'm surprised it's survived this long.
I ordered the sesame chicken which the chef recommended. Holy hell was this thing marinated in the Dead Sea for 50 years and sprinkled with sesame seeds? My left kidney had shut down and blood pressure shot sky high. I was so shriveled and dehydrated after a few bites that not even water from the Jordan River could save me.
Creamy shrimp? May as well call it Taco Rice Shrimp because this tasted nothing like authentic Chinese. The shrimp tasted like it was drizzled with kewpie mayo and taco sauce from Taco Bell. If I wanted a Shrimp Taco, I would've gone to King Tacos across the street.
The chef claimed the fried rice to be the most authentic Chinese fried rice out there. Nothing fried about this rice. It seemed like this rice was cooked in a rice cooker with soy sauce instead of water and green onions. At this point my right kidney shut down and was laid to rest with my left one. Now I find myself posting this review from a dialysis center.
Dim sum? Emphasis on the DIM. Because that's how I felt biting into the raw outside and once again salty inside. He also said that they don't use soy sauce and vinegar in the dim sum sauce? It was 100% soy sauce and vinegar.
Also, the chef goes faster than all the crashing Nissan Z's around here. The man will not stop talking and will interrupt you without fail. Dude, I just wanna order some food!
The food now sits in the back of our fridge lost in the darkest corner of time never to be seen or eaten again.
I have absolutely no idea how the reviews on this place are five stars. Y'all must have had some really bad Chinese food to think this is anywhere near amazing. There was nothing Chinese about this place. I've gone to many Chinese food places and this place was not it, sis. Please spend your money elsewhere. You'd have a better time eating at Manchu Wok on Kadena.
HIGHLY DO...
Read moreThe place is small with great vibes and reservations are a must or you’ll be lucky to get small bar seating facing the wall. The food was average at best, and although the chef is passionate as hell, his constant explanation about why everything was “the best” you’ll ever taste didn’t live up to the hype. He also steered us to certain dishes which we were ok with but most I wouldn’t order again. Chicken although tasty wasn’t moist and I’m guessing was either partially cooked in advance or fully cooked and reheated as ordered. The domain were huge things more like Korean mandu and yes his dipping sauce tasted great (he’ll tell you all about it several times). It want cheap and plates are small. We shared everything - cashew chicken (cashews aren’t cooked with the chicken and veg), spicy chicken (just peppery hot no other umami flavors), dimsum (not bit sized and just meh), fried rice, and two drinks = 5500 yen
Parking around the place is ok. Again the vibe is nice dimly lit with different color lights definitely makes it a good hang. With reservation and a group of 4-6 it could be fun night out. It’s...
Read moreI’ve been reading these reviews on this place and I see mostly good, which is what It deserves. I have had plenty of Chinese in my life and it’s by far the best fried rice I’ve had and the best fried shrimp I’ve had. The sauce is something I can’t put it words. It’s like the taste changes in your mouth and goes down so well. Sweet and sour chicken is my go-to. I’ve gone to this place 5 times and plan on going many times more. Idk what the deal is with these bad reviews cuz you would think out of the FIVE times I’ve gone, you’d think I’d have at least one negative experience like these other reviews had, but no. So idk if they’re cappin or not, but I recommend this place to anyone. Dragon is a very nice chef and knows very good English. He is not the owner like some say but sure as heck cooks like one. Anyways, I don’t usually ever post reviews like this about restaurants, but this was one I HAD to say something about. Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt and go try it yourself, and if you DID have a bad time, which I don’t see how, then give it...
