I was reluctant to try something else other than seafood at Kushiro. But because at least three locals recommended IZUMIYA, specifically the curry katsu spaghetti, I reluctantly decided to visit the shop.
TLDR: Must try! The “spakatsu” completely blew me away!
The highlight was the curry sauce. It’s not your typical Japanese curry; it’s a brilliant fusion of spaghetti bolognese and Japanese curry. Rich, meaty, and warmly spiced, it adheres perfectly to the noodles, which are cooked to perfection and kept warm by the plate.
The pork cutlet is a refreshing twist. It’s light and crispy, neither heavy nor greasy. How did they manage to add texture and flavor without overpowering the dish with a “lightweight” take on katsu? The result is a comforting, unique, and seriously addictive taste!

I'm not going to win many plaudits by this review but I've opted to be as objective as possible, instead of going over the top over what I could only describe as mediocre fare. However, I chose to come here because not many places open for lunch in Kushiro on a Sunday. Besides, I was also recommended this place by a fellow guest (who is Japanese and claims he frequents this place every time he visits Kushiro) at the guesthouse I was staying at... In all honesty, I can say that this place is indeed a hit with the locals... While I definitely have had better spaghetti elsewhere, for the price of ¥980 (and the generous portion) this place offers, I can have no complaints...In fact, the two customers seated at the next table to me both ordered the same dish and both couldn't even finish half of it... 2024年4月下旬に訪問！ 今回は仕事で釧路入りしました。 元々北海道でも仕事があるので札幌市内にいたのですが急遽出張が入り会社の部下と一緒に釧路入りです。
部下も釧路は初だったので丘珠空港から飛行機で釧路空港に入りました。 道内移動が飛行機だとあっという間に着くのですが低空飛行ということもあり風があるとだいぶ怖いです。 今回も風に揺られながらのフライトでした。 着いてからはレンタカーで移動です。
夕方、夜から仕事だったのでランチは繁華街に出てがっつり食べようということでこちらのお店に。 先方から釧路といえばスパカツというB級グルメがあるから是非とお薦めしてもらいました！ こちらのお店が発祥のお店という説明も事前に受けてワクワクしながら訪問です。
釧路の街並みを初めて見たのですが夜は人が出ていたとしても日中は少し元気がないような地方繁華街の典型的な形でした！
お店は繁華街の端っこの方に位置していました。 駐車場も近くにあり専用ではないですがいくら以上の利用で何時間無料のところだったかと思います！ 駐車場からは歩いて2分程度で着きます。
お昼のピークを避けて13時過ぎに到着です。 それでもお客さんは結構いました！ 7割程度埋まっていて繁盛している印象です。 店内に入ると昔ながらの喫茶店のようなイメージを持ちました。
またスタッフさんの接客も良く気持ちよく案内してもらいました。
メニューを見るとスパカツだけでなく他にも気になる料理が多かったです。 初めて出なかったら頼んでたであろうものもあります。 しかし今回はスパカツ目当てなのでそこは我慢しました。
大盛りは相当量あるから気をつけてくださいと言われていたので私は通常サイズに目玉焼きトッピング。 部下はそんな中でも大盛りを注文です！
10分程したら運ばれて来ましたがインパクトと鉄板のジュージューというシズル感が感動。 これは食欲だいぶそそられます。 そして男の子は大好きだなというものしか載っていません。ミートソースが飛び跳ねるので気になる方は気をつけた方が良いかなと。
いざ食事をするとカツが想像以上に柔らかくて美味しいです。衣はしっかりとカリッとしてますが中のお肉はジューシーです。衣に負けていないので肉の旨みを感じます。 脂っぽさも無く女性でも食べやすいです。 ミートソースは色からわかるように濃い味付けになっています。 物理的にソースの絡みが薄いところに上手く絡ませて食べることをお薦めします！ 最初は食べにくさがあるのでそこを乗り越えれば味のバランスは非常に抜群です。
今回目玉焼きをトッピングしましたがこちらは正解です。 黄身を途中で崩してかけて食べれば味変になります。 半熟卵なので黄身が濃厚でだいぶ変わります。 卵好きな人は2つトッピングしても良いかもしれません。
パスタの麺は鉄板でさらに熱せられることもありカリカリの部分がありこちらも好きな人からしたら堪らないと思います。
利用用途としては観光できたら必ずいきたいと思いました！ 夜利用では無くお昼にがっつり食べたい人向けだと思います。
