竹生 — Restaurant in Kyoto

My friend and I were craving sushi and stumbled upon this local gem. We could not speak any Japanese words, but thanks to Google Translate, we managed to put an order without too much difficulty. The owner really cared about providing us with good service and tried her best to communicate with us. She was such a lovely woman. She was always smiling and was curious about where we came from and what we were doing in the area. She even offered us a ride to the metro station because she was afraid we would wait too long for a bus)!

About the food, we got the "udon and sushi" set, as per her recommendation (and the recommendation of the locals eating at the table behind us), and the food was delicious! Udon noodles were firm, the broth was light, and the sushi were so fresh!

Definitely will go back if I come back to the area during my next...
