CRAFT BEER&CAFE Island Brewing — Restaurant in Miyakojima

I am updating this review after another year. The place now started charging for water. We spend over ¥10,000 on food last night and were rejected when asked for a glass of water for a child and one adult that doesn’t drink alcohol.

And the price onslaught continues with a line of 330ml non-alcoholic beer cans for ¥1200 a can – same beer that bars in Shibuya will charge ¥800 yen for.

Plus, there is now a Cash Only sign – though when I said we don’t have cash and we used to pay there digitally before, the staff accepted a digital payment.

It’s sad to see greed ruin a really nice place like this!

I used to love this place both for the food and the beer. Recently, unfortunately, they decided to go all out on a radical price hike and started charging ¥2000 for a glass of beer, not even a pint, adding a “small” shot sized beer glass priced at what used to be “medium”. Extortionist prices made me not want to go there again. The food and the atmosphere is still great so if you don’t mind the brazen cash grab, by all means...

This place looks like a great place to get craft beer, and I’d like to come back and try it. But I went for the little Mexican restaurant in the back for lunch. The ambiance is laid back and beachy, with eclectic music playing in the background. They only have a handful of menu items, and I went with the rice plate with carnitas. It came with a little salad and salsa and sour cream. Everything was very tasty and I suggest mixing everything together…it’s the right move. They have a drink set for 300 yen more and I got the Hasaba coffee which was nice. The tacos were good too, particularly the shrimp one. The service was fast and friendly....

Love you can order beer in sizes. So you can try all their diff special kinds of beer.

On the very inside is the Taco restaurant. They offer each taco in a small 2,-3 bite size, which again, is great so you can try the different kinds.

I took the Chicken and Pork and a small beer. Both tasted awesome, enough for me.

As a tourist, the prices are really really low. However according to locals this place is actually considered pricey.

Guess depends on how many tacos and beers will fill...
