Kaihomaru — Restaurant in Motobu

Seafood Restaurant Kaihomaru is the best place to eat in the area. we tried several other places and kept coming back here in a hurry. The staff were very helpful, swift and efficient despite the language barrier. The one African-Okinawan staff member was especially helpful with advice about the area.

The food was plentiful, good and my wife tried many of the sashimi dishes. I preferred the 'Okinawa Meal'. We spent more than we might otherwise, because the food was so good. The restaurant wants to keep control over the temperature of it's sushi and sashimi dishes, so it does not allow take out or delivery.

The restaurant was always very busy, but never seemed crowded.

One criticism is that it is not open for breakfast. There is a lack of any decent place for breakfast in the area, so they could take the whole market if they expanded their hours. (Until then, go to FamilyMart Motobu Yamagawa and buy breakfast to take back to your hotel room. They are a little bit down the road to the north...

Food: specialty seafood rice bowl (1880 yen) was an assortment of different fish. There was one white fish that was super buttery and delicious. The meal was comparable to other sashimi restaurants but is still a solid choice to eat at. One major thing I didn't like about the rice bowl is that the rice heated up the sashimi and the sashimi would be warm in your mouth. I prefer cold sashimi while eating it. I would opt for a sashimi platter.

Service: food came out within 10 mins.

Atmosphere: cute low tables but nothing notable about...

The waiting system here is the worst. You should not trust the kiosk. Let me tell you my experience. The waiting number for the kiosk was only one team, so I took the number and waited. The waiting team left and we expected to be in soon. The room in the store was empty but didn't call us. We didn't get in until 10 group customers came. If we had known that there were 10 reservation customers in front of us, we would have found another store. Nobody notify this. Worst...
