A MUST VISIT IN OKINAWA!!! If you love gardens and nature, PLEASE do not miss this place! I wish I could give more than 5 stars, it was a 10/10 experience, 100%, A+++++ garden (especially for the price of entry).
The attention to detail of this place is absolutely mind-blowing. I have visited a lot of botanical/tropical gardens in my life, but this one has to be my favourite!
Pick up a map on entry and a stamp rally sheet just for fun.
The first areas lives some of the most perfect, most beautiful orchids I have ever seen in my life. There is a beautiful outdoor pond with lots of lily pads and fish. The next greenhouse houses all kinds of tropical fruit trees.
As you continue onwards, there is a small room where all the BUGS live! Rhino and Hercules beetles that are so big, they give you the heebie-jeebies looking at them. They mostly staying still, so don't bother them.
The spiral tower takes you to an amazing outdoor observatory of Okinawa (elevator also available or stairs, if you're into that).
Next stop is a greenhouse with many black and white butterflies. It was magical, like a disney-movie. You can watch them flutter around, feeding on the flowers.
The last area is a sunflower garden - some areas newly seeded, some areas have beautiful sunflowers already.
I could easily spend 2-3hrs here, just strolling around. It was very, very quiet when I visited mid-March. Very little tourists. Should I visit Okinawa again, I will come back here and show all my friends.
Outside of the Tropical Dream Centre is also amazing grounds to walk around. I feel the whole area would be a...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful place if you enjoy plants. We came because we were in the area so glad we did it was very tranquil. The building is well designed both visually and also to walk round, also most parts accessible by wheel chair or buggy and the route is marked. You can download an app for explanations but we did not remember our headphones. The orchids were beautiful although maybe less unusual ones than we had hoped, but given time of visit in October maybe to be expected. Still wonderful to see so many. We enjoyed the central abouretumn area were you could take a drink and snack. The tower was worth climbing to see both the Vista and the architecture from above. There is an interesting house of fruiting trees and also a pond with flowering plants. We also enjoyed feeding the koi. Definitely as good as or a better place to visit as the...
Read moreThis location is everything I wanted it to be and more, and the price of admission was way less than what I would have paid for someone who loves botanical gardens. The variety of plant life was absolutely incredible, the landscaping is so well kept, and the layout of the facilities is fantastic. I was attending with two littles (2yo and 2mo), and I was able to navigate the tour path well with my wagon I chose to bring in place of my stroller—though that would have been fine too!
There are portions of the area that I had to strap baby up in a body carrier and let my 2yo walk but there are few areas like this, and leaving my wagon was easy enough to do!
We...
